Yeast
Is there any difference in regular yeast and bread machine yeast? I saw a recipe that I wanted to try that used a bread machine...(for pizza dough) Well, I don't have a bread machine. Couldn't I just use my hands and regular yeast?

RE: Yeast
Your sure can! I wish I had the talent to do that, my Mother made it look SO EZ. When I tried it I could have made a dog house out of the brick bread! *hangs head*

RE: Yeast
Go right ahead--I switch all my recipes back and forth (from bread machine to hand mixing and vice versa), depending upon what kind of mood I'm in and how much I want to make. The bread machine is only good for one loaf at a time.
Just use the regular mixing procedure--dissolve the yeast in the warm liquid, add half the flour and the rest of the ingredients, beat several minutes, then gradually work in enough of the rest of the flour that you get the right consistency of dough.
And bread machine and regular yeast? I've read that they're the same--just labelled differently to make people think they need to buy both. I buy one jar of regular yeast, pop it in the freezer (stores for months that way), and use it in everything--ABM and hand-mixed recipes. Yeast is yeast--it's all the same little plant, regardless of what name is on the package
