    yes, that is what I do with recipes like that and so far have not had any trouble with baking

    Usually a recipe will specify if they want you to use cake flour, bread flour, self-rising, whole wheat, etc. All Purpose is the 'default' flour--it's the one generally meant if nothing specific is noted.

    another way you can sometimes tell is if it calls for baking powder and or baking soda or buttermilk or some combination of those, it is probably all purpose. Self rising usually doesn't call for those things. As has already been mentioned, I would assume all purpose if it doesn't say specifically.
