Since someone just bumped up an old post about Homemade Croutons, I thought I'd let you know. On the old post I had asked about freezing them, since it's just my DH and me now and we have lots of bread go bad. I didn't get a response, so I just did my own test.

I put some in a ziplock in the freezer, left them for a couple of months. After thawing on the counter they tasted just like fresh.

The recipe I used (less the cheese, I don't care for) was:

I have a couple of recipes I have collected off the internet...

    HOMEMADE CROUTONS

They are so fresh and delicious, and easy!

    1/4 cup olive oil
    1/2 tsp. garlic powder
    1/2 tsp. oregano
    1/2 tsp. basil
    1/2 tsp. thyme
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
1 loaf (8 ounces) French bread, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
    2 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese

    1. In a large bowl, combine olive oil and spices. Add bread cubes and toss to coat. Spread cubes in a jelly-roll pan; bake at 350º for 8 minutes. Sprinkle croutons with Parmesan cheese and bake 7 minutes longer or until golden. Remove from oven and let cool. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

That would be fine, Star. It really does belong there, too, doesn't it?

I had thought about adding it there originally, but thought this might be seen more.

The main reason I try to freeze some, is to keep us from eating them all at once. DH and I really love them. haha

    Thanks,
    Bev
