  • Question about ziti pasta
I'm going to make Baked Ziti for the first time ever, and tonight I went to the store to buy the ingredients. I couldn't find ziti pasta. What is it like? I had no idea what to substitute with since I've never eaten Baked Ziti before. I ended up buying Penne noodles.
Can someone tell me if they think those will work, and also what ziti noodles are like?
    Thanks

I made a baked ziti casserole last night with penne pasta. Ziti is smooth tubular pasta and penne has some ridges in it. Worked great.

I prefer penne pasta. It's smaller and the ridges hold the sauce better.

If you can't find ziti, and it can be hard to find, you can substitute any shaped pasta - even elbow macaroni will do.

You also can use ZITI Rigate--with lines. I always get Regate--seems to hold the sauce better.
