chicken broccli stromboli recipe anyone?

    I'm dreaming of a stromboli that uses chicken and broccoli. Has anyone ever done this? Would you share your ideas? What sauce would you use? TIA.

    This is a pizza, but can easily be adapted to a stromboli. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks delicious!

    White Chicken and Broccoli Pizza
    2 cups Deli lemon pepper rotisserie chicken
    1 1/2 cups broccoli florets
    1 cup Alfredo sauce
    1 cup sliced mushrooms
    1 pizza crust
    2 cups shredded Italian - blend cheese
    1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
    1/4 teaspoon oregano
    1 teaspoon basil
    1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
    olive oil cooking spray


    1. Place oven rack in center of oven and then preheat to 425ºF.
    2. Cut chicken and (rinsed) broccoli into bite-size pieces; place in large mixing bowl. Stir in Alfredo sauce and (rinsed) mushrooms.
    3. Place pizza crust on perforated pizza pan (for best results) and spread chicken mixture evenly over crust to within 1/2 inch of edge.
    4. Sprinkle cheeses evenly over pizza, then sprinkle with oregano, basil and garlic salt. Coat top of pizza lightly with cooking spray. Bake 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.

    Chicken and Broccoli Calzone Recipe #21049
    If you like chicken hot pockets or pizzas you'll love this! This is a wonderful blend of flavors all mixed into a Calzone.
    1 package yeast
    1 tablespoon sugar
    2 tablespoons oil
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 tablespoons leaf oregano
    3 cups flour
    2 chicken breasts
    2 cups broccoli
    1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
    1 can cream of chicken soup
    1 tablespoon cumin
    1 tablespoon coriander
    1 tablespoon ground oregano
    1 tablespoon chipotle hot sauce
    1 egg white

    Dough: Dissolve Yeast in 1 cup warm water for 10 minutes, or until creamy.
    In a separate bowl, mix flour, oil, sugar, salt, and oregano leaf.
    Add in the yeast water mixture.
    Mix well until a ball forms.
    Spread extra four on kneading board, knead dough for 8 minutes, adding flour as needed until the right consistency is formed.
    Set aside in greased bowl, covered with damp cloth, in a warm area of the kitchen for 30 minutes.
    This dough should rise to twice its size.
    Mean while, shred cooked chicken breast meat.
    Mix in Chipotle sauce.
    Mix well until blended completely.
    Mix in soup, seasonings, cheese, and broccoli.
    Split dough into two balls.
    Roll out first ball until 1/4" to 3/8" thickness.
    Place 1/2 of chicken mix to the center of the round dough leaving at least 1.
    5" of uncovered dough around the edge.
    Moisten the edge with water.
    Fold over dough to form 1/2 circle.
    Crimp edges forming a decorative pie crust style edge.
    Set aside on greased cookie sheet and begin to build 2nd calzone.
    Set both aside for 30 minutes to allow dough to rise.
    Break an egg over a small bowl, being careful not to add the yolk.
    Mix egg white with fork until loose and fluffy.
    Brush egg white over the top of the calzones before placing in the oven.
    This will make them golden brown.
    Bake at 375 for 25 minutes.

    Another adaptable one:

    broccoli pizza with chicken

    1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    ½ pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into thin strips
    1 clove garlic, minced
    2 cups frozen broccoli cuts, thawed
    ½ cup milk
    1 1.5-ounce package four- cheese pasta sauce mix
    1 12-inch ready-made pizza crust
    ½ cup sliced ripe olives
    ½ cup Swiss cheese, shredded

    Heat oven to 450 degrees. Heat oil over medium-high heat in large skillet. Add chicken and garlic, stirring frequently, about 2 minutes. Add broccoli, milk and sauce mix, stirring constantly, then bring to gentle boil. Reduce heat and simmer 2 minutes. Spoon chicken mixture over pizza crust. Sprinkle with olives and cheese. Bake in preheated oven 10 minutes or until browned lightly and heated through.

    2 tablespoons butter
    4 cloves garlic, fine chopped
    1 pound italian sausage
    4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    2 cups asiago cheese
    1/2 teaspoon pepper

    2 pounds thin sliced pepper pastrami
    2 cups shredded mozzarella
    2 cups shredded provolone cheese
    3 tablespoons spicy brown mustard (to taste)
    1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper
    2 tablespoons olive oil

    Spinach and Cheese
    3 bags fresh spinach
    4 green onions, fine chopped
    3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    1 cup shredded provolone
    1/2 cup fresh grated parmesan cheese
    4 tablespoons olive oil
    parsley, dill, essence
    2 cloves minced garlic

    Prepare basic pizza dough, then create filling. For dough, divide into thirds. Pat or roll each third into a 12" circle on cookie sheet. Spoon one third of mixture into center of each circle. Lift and gently stretch dough over filling; press edges of dough together with fork to seal. Cut 2 slits in top of each. Bake about 30 minutes or till golden brown. Refrigerate 1 or 2 strombolis while others bake if needed.

    SAUSAGE FILLING: heat butter in skillet, then cook onion and garlic, stirring occasionally, til crisp tender. Stir in sausage. Cook, stirring occasionally, til sausage is browned, then drain. refrigerate till cooled. Stir cheese and seasonings into sausage mixture. Fill dough as directed above.

    SPINACH FILLING: Saute spinach, garlic and onions in olive oil. Add seasonings to taste. Mix cheeses with spinach, then fill dough as directed above.

    PASTRAMI FILLING: Separate dough as above. Spread mustard onto center of dough, sprinkle with olive oil. Layer pastrami with cheese mixture, sprinkle with black pepper.

    Dottie's Easy Chicken Broccoli Stromboli


    1 can Pillsbury refrigerated pizza crust
    1/2 lb. Provolone cheese
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen broccoli
    1 (12 oz.) pkg. ground chicken

    Prepare broccoli according to package directions; drain and let cool. Lightly brown chicken in skillet; drain and let cool completely.

    Grease work surface with butter. Spread pizza crust out on surface; stretch in all directions. Place Provolone cheese on crust; add broccoli and chicken. Roll crust toward you, bringing in ends as you roll. Bake at 350°F degrees until golden brown, about 35-45 minutes.

    Serves 4

    Personally, hope Dottie isn't offended, I add a little garlic powder and Italian seasoning to the chicken :O)
