  • Help-How many pounds of apples would be a peck?
A recipe to make applebutter calls for a peck of apples.
I bought 9 pounds of apples. Would this be too many or not enough? I need to end up with about 20 cups of thick pulp to make the butter.
Sorry to be so dumb & TIA,
    Marie

I didn't know either, I just googled it, and it said a peck of apples weighs 10 1/2 pounds.

A bushel of apples weighs 40 pounds. A peck is 1/4 bushel, or 10 pounds.

Thank you. I was so tired last night from all my kitchen duties yesterday that I didn't even think Google!
    I appreciate your help.
I've never made applesauce other than in the crockpot or the microwave so hope this turns out & the butter too.j Probably won't get to cook & can the butter until after work tomorrow night.
    Have a good day.
