What kind of sauce to serve with gnocchi?

    What kind of sauce to serve with gnocchi?
    I bought some pre-made gnocchi at the grocery store. I haven't had gnocchi in years! They were sold in a vacuum sealed pouch on the shelf.

    I'm looking for some ideas on how to serve the gnocchi. Any special sauces or casseroles??

    wow- so many ways,

    garlic butter and herbs, with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese- and maybe tossed with some spring veggies.

    my favorite way to serve gnocchi is with spagetti sauce (homemade or jar) toss together, pour into baking dish and cover with (fresh if you have it) mozzerola cheese, bake until hot and bubbly.

    I just bought some too. I was thinking of using pesto on it. I've never had gnocchi.

    I saute chopped onions & garlic, sliced fresh mushrooms, and parsley in olive oil to pour over the cooked gnocchi.

    I agree so many ways. I haven't had pesto either.

    How about with cheese sauce, or alfreado sauce, your favorite tomato sauce.

    Cook gnnocchi as directed. Drain on paper towel or in collander. Put a jar of alfredo sauce in the bottom of cake pan. Top with gnocchi, cubed ham and sliced mushrooms. Top with sliced provolone cheeseor white american cheese. Top with another jar of alfreado sauce. Top with shredded mozzerella cheese. Bake at 350 until the mozerella melts (I think 1/2 hour-45 minutes-on my oven anyway).
    *you can you shrip, crab meat etc in placeof ham. Try it, let me know what you think....

    Gnocchi are my favorite! Here are a couple sauce recipes I found on arthuravenue.com that sound like they would be great with them. I love gnocchi with a creamy sauce or with a red sauce with lots of cheese.

    Gorgonzola Sauce

    * 4 ounces Gorgonzola
    * 4 tablespoons heavy cream
    * 1 tablespoon fresh thyme

    1. Place ingredients in a saucepan heat until cheese is melted.
    2. Stir until consistent.
    3. Dump the cooked pasta into the pan and stir until coated.
    4. Add a little pasta water to thin if necessary.
    5. Plate and serve.


    Cream and Parmigiano Sauce

    * 1 ounce unsalted butter
    * ¼ cup heavy cream
    * ½ cup Parmigiano grated

    1. Place ingredients in a saucepan heat until cheese is melted.
    2. Stir until consistent.
    3. Add a little pasta water to thin if necessary.
    4. Dump the cooked pasta into the pan and stir until coated.
    5. Plate and serve.

    All these sauces sounds wonderful. I used to have wonderful ravioli at Modesto Lanzone's in SF and they had very finely chopped wanuts in the cream sauce. Yum. You do this eith their the Parmesan cream or the Gorzonzola.

    In New England, we say Tonic.
