This sauce is very good and I think it would be great on pizza, and it is easy to make. Gail

I just love this easy recipe! Its the best sauce I've ever had and we get tons of compliments on it.
A Chef, whose family owns a successful Italian Restaurant/Party House shared it with me. It is a scaled down version of the one that they use to make gallons and gallons of the stuff each week.
Now you purists, please don't laugh until you've tried it-it seems too easy to be true-measure everything into a pot and cook. We increase the batches and freeze it in 3 1/2 cup containers (about the same as a jar of sauce).

    Restaurant Style Spaghetti Sauce

    1 teaspoon onion powder
    1 teaspoon garlic powder
    1 Tablespoon olive oil
    1 Tablespoon butter
    1-6 oz. can tomato paste
    1-28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
1/2 of the 28 oz. can water
    1 Tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon chicken or beef base
    1 teaspoon salt
    Black pepper to taste
    2 teaspoons dried basil
    ¼ cup Parmesan cheese

Combine all ingredients, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer about 1 hour until thickened.
    Serve over hot cooked pasta.

I would just use a lot of garlic powder, some basil and oregano in tomato sauce. I'm not sure about quantities, but just mix together and let set a few minutes and taste to adjust to you liking.

I'm actually looking for the dry seasoning like you purchase in stores.

This is the one I used to use, but now I just use Penzey's Italian Herb mix and a shake of crushed red pepper flakes:

Found this one, with step by step instructions here:

Pizza Hut Bread/Cheesesticks (Olive Garden Breadsticks)

In your stand-mixer or breadmachine, mix together:
    1 1/3 cups of water
    4 tsp soft butter
    4 cups of flour
    2 Tbsp sugar
    2 tsp salt
    2 tsp yeast

    Step 1:

Then, roll it out into a log and divide it into 16 pieces.

Roll these pieces into cigar-shaped sticks of bread.
    Arrange on a baking sheet.

    Step 2:

Cover, and let rise for 45 minutes.

    Step 3:

    Preheat your oven to 400*F.

Use your brush to butter each stick, saving some butter for later. Sprinkle with kosher salt.

    Step 4:

    Cook for 15 minutes.

Remove, then brush twice more and add another sprinkling of kosher salt and a light sprinkle of garlic powder.

    Tada! Olive Garden breadsticks.

    Step 5:

What about Pizza Hut? Do this:
    in a food processor, mix:
    1/3 cup of parmessan cheese
    1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp herbs (it's for the green, I used Italian Pizza Seasoning)
    1/2 tsp garlic powder

    Step 6:

Then shake these onto your breadsticks to your liking (don't overpower the sticks though)

Cheesesticks? Sprinkle shredded mozerella onto the tops, then pop under the broiler until the cheese bubbles and burns a bit. Good stuff.

Bread Sticks - Pizza Hut Style

    1 1/3 cups warm water
    3 tablespoons olive oil
    4 cups flour
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 teaspoons oregano
    3 tablespoons powdered milk
    2 teaspoons yeast
    Topping
    2 tablespoons dry parmesan cheese
    1 tablespoon garlic powder
    1 tablespoon garlic salt
    1 tablespoon onion powder
    1 tablespoon oregano
    1/4 cup olive oil

Add the dough ingredients to the bread machine in the order given, and set to first rise.
When this has finished, roll the dough out into a rectangle which is 1/2-3/4 inch thick.
With a pizza cutter, cut the dough into 1x4 inch strips.
Place on greased cookie sheets and allow the bread sticks to rise until doubled.
Meanwhile, stir the topping seasonings together with the parmesan cheese.
Brush the breadsticks heavily with olive oil.
Sprinkle with the topping. I use an empty spice bottle to shake it on evenly.
Bake the bread sticks at 350 for 12 to 15 min's until golden.
Serve warm with Dipping Sauce -
