HELLOHelllo everyone, I know someone will be able to help me-I need to know how to use this electric roaster and any recipes, etc. It is very old-probably older than me but I need to use it for meals, etc. until my oven is replaced. Would anyone know if this would heat from the bottom or the sides? I think it is one that was gotten by saving green stamps and it is in very good condition and it is washed and waiting to be used! Have a good day everyone. I think it maybe a 12 quart size-Thanks, Marie

Here is the link for an 18 qt. Nesco Roaster Oven. It has a cooking chart for meats and baking and recipes as well.

I was going to recommend the Nesco site, but looks like you have that good info already.

In the summer when it is really hot, I don't ever use my oven, but use my Nesco's. or the BBQ.

Thank you everyone for the info. I tried to do a search for the maker, westinghouse and came up with nothing. I have gone to the sites for nesco and hamilton beach, but I still need to know how to figure out if this roaster heats on the bottom or the sides. I copied the recipes on the sites and appreciate everyone's help. Marie

Mine is a Westinghouse! It's the best thing I ever bought at a garage sale. LOL! Mine has a removable liner (for cleaning), and I think it is like a crock pot & heats up on the bottom. Mine also has a pull-out thing under the temperature gauge that tells me how long & what temperature to cook things.

I've cooked my Thanksgiving turkey in it, pork roast for a friend's wedding reception, and many more things. I love it! :)

Thank you. The tray is missing on mine. I am going to try a small turkey first I think.

I received a 4 quart roaster from QVC, just saturday and have never tried one before, but like others I have always admired them. Today I am doing a roast in mine, So far it smells very good.
I wish I could have found a bigger one, although I have no room to store anything. but always thought they would come in handy.
I will sure check out these recipes although I will have to reduce amounts.

I have the 12 qt nesco and cook roasts, turkey breasts, chicken, veg soup, chili, ribs, etc. You can even treat it like a slow cooker, but keep an eye on the liquid content...tends to cook it up.
