  • Is there anything that can be done to get rid of a burnt taste?
I made beef stew and got busy on the bb and kind of scorched it. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the bitter taste besides throwing it out?

Ive heard that if you add a bit of vanilla it will take away the burnt taste. I've never tried it though. Carol

Potatoes can take away the salty-ness but I really don't think there is anything to take away the burnt taste once it's been done.

    Sorry. :(

This was just on cubbybear's helpful hints post:

If food is scorched, place the pot immediately in cold water to stop the cooking action, which will eliminate the burnt taste from the food that was not scorched.

I added tomato juice and put it into a clean pan. You can still taste it a little but it isn't too bad now. I just added some sugar too. At least when I scorched it, it was in my cooking essencials pan which was a breeze to clean up. It didn't even stick to it. Thanks for all your help.

Just wanted you all to know the tomato juice and sugar worked wonders as well as changing the pan. It is definitely edible. and if it wasn't for an addiction to this darn bb it wouldn't of happened! LOL!

Yeh, you know that I don't know how to cook. Just wanted everyone on the bb to think I did.
