    WHAT IS A SAILOR SANDWICH?
    I have been reading a lot of Patricia Cornwell Books With Dr. Kay Scarpetta, And This Sandwich Has been mentioned in at least Two of them. The series is based around Richmand, VA, So mybe this is a local name for a Tuna Sandwich. I am just curious again. Just call me GeorgeLOL.

    Someone asked this very same question.

    A sailor sandwich is a whole knockwurst grilled, on grilled rye bread, with ½ portion of pastrami, swiss cheese (piece on each slice of bread), sauerkraut, and deli mustard.

    The sandwich is wonderful... The New York Deli on Cary Street says they invented the sandwich back in the 40's.... There is no sour kraut on it... The Ruben and Rachel has sour kraut.
