Cooks.com says a cube of butter is 1 ounce or 2 tbsp.

I googled it and half of the sites say it is 1 stick which is 1/2 cup or 8 oz.  The other half say it is 1 oz which is 2 tbsp.

Not much help, is it? LOL  Some said a British cube is different from an American cube, so maybe that is why there are two answers.

I think I would look at the recipe and make an educated guess.

    Answers:

1 pound of butter = 4 sticks or 4 cubes of butter = 2 cups of butter.

1 stick or cube of butter = 1/2 cup = 8 tablespoons of butter

The recipes I have used converted better to 1/2 cup so I use the 1/2 cup ( although as Ms Nee Nee stated some sites differ).
