I am going to make cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving. The recipe has chopped pecans and a little crushed pineapple in it. Can I make it now and freeze for Thanksgiving?
Also, the recipe calls for "one bag" of fresh cranberries - I am assuming the small bags from the grocery store. I found a large 3# bag at Sam's club for a great price, so I bought it. Are the grocery store size bags 1lb? I figure I could just measure out what I need.
thanks
Kathleen
Kathleen, yes the grocery store bags are 1 lb each. I'm not sure about the freezing question. I know you can freeze the cranberries, I do it all the time, but not sure about the finished salad.

Thanks Sherry!! I have decided I AM going to make the cranberry sauce recipe in advance and freeze it. If I am going to experiment, might as well be on family!! Ha ha
Kathleen, the fresh cranberries we get at the grocery store are in 12 oz. packages, not 1 lb., so check the weight beforehand. Anne
I make extra cranberry sauce every year, so I will have enough for Thanksgiving AND Christmas. It has always been great - just as good from the freezer as it was freshly made. My recipe doesn't have nuts, however. I might suggest adding them just before serving.
