Years ago I found a recipe for a frosting that tasted like whip cream but there was no whip cream in it.
I some how lost that recipe and now have been on a desparte search for another one. It was from my local paper. I think it was ha Heloise column but not sure. If someone out there has it please help.

Directions:Cook flour and milk together to pudding stage and set aside to cool. Cream butter and shortening for 4 minutes. Add sugar and beat 4 minutes more. Add cooked mixture and vanilla; beat for 4 minutes more.

FAUX WHIPPED CREAM by DeoniaMix 6 T. cornstarch with 1 1/2 cups milk, fresh or canned ( I used nonfat dry milk) and cook until thick. Cool to cold in the fridge while you prepare the next part.Cream together:1 cup butter ( 2 sticks)1 cup sugarWhen first part is completely cold, mix it in with the butter/sugar creamed mixture and whip till light and fluffy. Spread on a cold cake. Keep refrigerated.

Thanks for posting my recipe Vickie, I like to use cornstarch instead of flour for this frosting, It seems to make it a little bit lighter and fluffier and not as pasty and heavy as flour. But that cold be all in my head LOL
