How about this recipe for some cookies? I got it from www.pillsbury.com
Easter Bonnets
Receive rave reviews when you parade these bonnets! Just don't expect them to last long!Ingredients:
1 (18-oz.) pkg. Pillsbury® Refrigerated Sugar Cookies
12 purchased lemon or orange mini muffins
2 cups vanilla frosting (from two 16-oz. cans)
Green and red food color
Preparation Directions:
1. Using slice and bake method, bake and cool 12 cookies as directed on cookie wrapper. Reserve remaining dough for a later use.
2. If necessary, remove papers from muffins. Cut 3/4-inch slice off bottom of each muffin to use for bonnet. Reserve muffin tops for snacking. Spread cut side of each muffin bottom with frosting; attach to cookie, frosting side down. Place bonnets on rack set over 15x10x1-inch baking pan.
3. Place 1/2 cup frosting in resealable plastic bag. Add green food color; squeeze bag until well mixed and of desired color.
4. Place remaining frosting in microwave-safe measuring cup with pouring spout. Microwave on HIGH for 30 to 40 seconds or until pourable. DO NOT BOIL. Stir in enough red food color for desired pink color.
5. Pour pink frosting over bonnets in circular motion to cover completely. Reheat frosting as needed to keep it pourable. Let stand 10 minutes or until set.
6. Remove bonnets from rack with small spatula, smoothing edges of frosting. Cut tiny hole in corner of bag with green frosting. Pipe ribbon of frosting for hatband; add bow design. Make dots and flower designs on each hat as desired.

RE: Ladies Banquet theme is Hats of to Mothers Need your Ideas PLEASE.....
A Mother Casts Her Dreams into the Sea
A mother casts her dreams into the sea;
We, the words sent bobbing towards the sun,
The eggs of stone, the shards of prophesy.
Because she must conclude her melody
And fall back to the sweet dark hush of One,
A mother casts her dreams into the sea,
Hoping to cross that wild infinity
And on some infant shore again to run,
The eggs of stone, the shards of prophesy
Outside the fiery circle of memory,
The howling surf, the incessant years undone …
A mother casts her dreams into the sea
And then dissolves into a tapestry,
Her rolling, helpless drift again begun,
The eggs of stone, the shards of prophesy
Afloat once more upon eternity,
Once more the alien fury, never done …
Again, again, her dreams into the sea,
The eggs of stone, the shards of prophesy!

A Vase of Flowers in a Window Frame
Copyright by
Nicholas Gordon
A vase of flowers in a window frame.
A house of gentle light amid dark leaves.
An ecstasy so sharp it feels like anguish,
The pull that makes our beeline an ellipse.
No transcendental morning's inspiration
So ravishes the things we never see.
We hear for all our lives a silent music
To which we dance unknowing through our time.
And even when we die, there is a beauty
Older than the cold December stars,
A part of us that waits behind the darkness
To take us once again into its arms.

RICHER THAN GOLD
You may have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be --
I had a mother who read to me.
-- Strickland Gillilan (1869-1954)
WONDERFUL MOTHER
God made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He moulded her heart of pure gold;
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fair roses you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear mother to me.
--Pat O'Reilly
MOTHER'S SONGS
Songs my mother taught me,
In the days long vanish'd
Seldom from her eyelids
Were the teardrops banish'd.
Now I teach my children
Each melodious measure,
Oft the teardrops flowing,
Oft they flow from my mem'ry's treasure.
-- Author Unknown
A picture memory brings to me;
I look across the years and see
Myself beside my mother's knee.
I feel her gentle hand restrain
My selfish moods, and know again
A child's blind sense of wrong and pain.
But wiser now,
a man gray grown,
My childhood's needs are better known.
My mother's chastening love I own.
-- John Greenleaf Whittier (1807-1892)

TO MY MOTHER
Because I feel that in the heavens above
The angels, whispering one to another,
Can find among their burning terms of love,
None so devotional as that of "Mother,"
Therefore by that dear name I have long called you,
You who are more than mother unto me,
And filled my heart of hearts, where death installed you,
In setting my Virginia's spirit free.
My mother -- my own mother, who died early,
Was but the mother of myself; but you
Are the mother to the one I loved so dearly,
And thus are dearer than the mother I knew
But that infinity with which my wife
Was dearer to my soul that its soul-life.
--Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849)
M-O-T-H-E-R
"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold;
"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
"R" means right, and right she'll always be,
Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER,"
A word that means the world to me.
--Howard Johnson (c. 1915)

RE: Ladies Banquet theme is Hats of to Mothers Need your Ideas PLEASE.....
The Watcher -- Mother
She always leaned to watch for us,
Anxious if we were late,
In winter by the window,
In summer by the gate:
And though we mocked her tenderly,
Who had such foolish care,
The long way home would seem more safe
Because she waited there.
Her thoughts were all so full of us -- She never could forget!
And so I think that where she is
She must be watching yet,
Waiting till we come home to her,
Anxious if we are late --
Watching from Heaven's window, Leaning from Heaven's gate.

A Mother's Love
There is no love, like a mother's love,
no stronger bond on earth...
like the precious bond that comes from God,
to a mother, when she gives birth.
A mother's love is forever strong,
never changing for all time...
and when her children need her most,
a mother's love will shine.
God bless these special mothers,
God bless them every one...
for all the tears and heartache,
and for the special work they've done.
When her days on earth are over,
a mother's love lives on...
through many generations,
with God's blessings on each one.
Be thankful for our mothers,
for they love with a higher love...
from the power God has given,
and the strength from up above.

Hats
You can put small styrofoam cups on a cookie sheet and bake in oven for a short time on a low temp(I don't remember exact numbers so you will have to experiment) They collapse and the edges get wavy. They look just like a hat. The bottom of the cup becomes the brim. When cool, you can put ribbon around the brim. They make adorable favors.

I found the recipe for the Hats!
Put styrofoam cups upside down on a cookie sheet and bake for one minute in a 300 degree oven. The cups will melt and can be trimmed with ribbon and small flowers.

Many years ago my mom's church had a similar theme. We had a hat contest. Every woman wore a hat, either of their own design or a simple hat, and then there was a contest. Awards went to such things as Most Creative, Most Outrageous, Most Floral, etc. It was a lot of fun.

Hats Off to Mothers
My mommy's a nurse who fixes and patches
All of my hurts and my sores and my scratches.
My mother's a chef who fixes each dinner
Fit for a king - a blue-ribbon winner!
My mom's a chauffeur who drives pretty slow
But gets me to places where I need to go.
My mom's a detective, and no one is greater
At getting the truth from me sooner or later.
My mommy's a gardener and works really hard,
Planting and weeding and grooming our yard.
My mother's a maid - at least that's what she said
'Cause she cleans up the house and makes every bed.
My mother's an angel - a queen in disguise -
Who teaches the gospel with tears in her eyes.
Today take these hats off, and please wear no other.
Let me do your work, to show
I LOVE YOU, MOTHER!
