  • How do you "cook down blueberries"
like to use for fried blueberry pies, etc. I once knew someone who
would cook them down and put pinches of canned biscuits or dumplings in them. My DD is asking for something like this and I don't even know where to start. I know some of you can help me. Susan

Susan, type in fried pies in the search box. There are a whole bunch of recipes to get you started. Good luck,

If you don't have the blueberries, I know DH's grandmother buys the jars of Blueberry jams or something like that and just puts a spoonful in her fried pies.
Just a thought for you. Sorry I can't help with the real question you asked.

    Blueberry Grunt

    1/2c Sugar
    2 tsp lemon juice
    2 c flour

    1/2tsp salt
    2 tbs sugar
    1/4 c shortening
    3/4 c milk
Put the blueberries,1/2 cup of sugar, lemon juice and 1 cup of water into a pan & bring to a boil, stirring continuously. Boil for 3 mins. Sift together the flour, baking powderand salt. Add the 2 tbs sugar. Cut in the shortening and mix with milk to make a soft dough. Drop the dough over the boiling fruit, cover and simmer for 10 mins without lifting the lid.
