Giant Cinnamon Cheese Danish ~ LOL ~ My kitchen smelled like a walk through the mall this morning....with all the  sweet cinnamony aroma of a Cinnabon filling the whole house.  OH!!! this was delicious!!

It was easy enuff and fun to make.  I made the recipe as written.....next time I'd like to add a little cherry pie filing or some raspberry jam to make a nice fruit filling....I would have added some apple pie filling..but I was out....used it all making the apple crescent cobbler ~

This cheese danish was a "beautiful sight to behold" ~  when I took it from the oven....I let it cool slightly and drizzled with the icing that comes with the Grands(I didn't use all the icing)   It was still quite warm when I sliced....and it wasn't the prettiest slice I've ever seen....so if your not bothered about that (we weren't)....then slice and enjoy....I think if I was serving this to company....I'd bake the day before....leave the icing off and refrigerate....the next morning.~ I'd take out 30 minutes before reheating....I'd heat in the oven (just till warm) and drizzle with the icing.....I think it would slice much nicer.

So ~ Lets make a Cheese Danish ~

    Giant Cinnamon Cheese Danish
    From Pillsbury

    INGREDIENTS
1can (17.5 oz) Pillsbury® Grands!® refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
1package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
    1/2cup sugar
    2teaspoons sour cream
    1teaspoon lemon juice
    1teaspoon vanilla

    DIRECTIONS

1.Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease 9-inch glass pie plate with shortening, or spray with CRISCO® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray. Separate dough into 5 rolls; set icing aside. Unroll 1 roll into long strip of dough; reroll loosely and place in center of pie plate. Unroll second roll; loosely wrap around first roll, cinnamon side in. Replace any cinnamon that falls off. Repeat with remaining rolls, coiling dough in pie plate into spiral shape.

2.In small bowl, beat remaining ingredients except icing with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Spoon cream cheese mixture into decorating bag with tip or gallon-size resealable food-storage plastic bag with 1/2-inch hole cut in bottom corner. With tip or corner of bag about halfway down into rolls, pipe mixture between strips of dough, starting at center and working to edge of pan, using all of mixture.  I used a disposable pastry bag with a tip....it made filling this with the cream cheese mixture a breeze

3.Bake 25 to 35 minutes or until center is thoroughly baked and edges are deep golden brown. Cool 5 minutes. Meanwhile, remove cover from icing; microwave on Medium (50%) 10 to 15 seconds or until thin enough to drizzle.  I baked 30 minutes...and was getting a little concerned about a portion of it that was turning quite dark ...so I took it out....turns out the darkest part was the best....nicely caramelized sugar with a lil' crunch...next time I will bake the full 35 minutes.

All nicely coiled....When I was coiling the dough....I just attached the next roll to the end of the coil I just made and pinched the ends together.

All filled ~ and ready for the oven ~

And "pResTo" ~ A Giant Cheese Danish is born!!!!

    HOT!! from the oven ~

So grab yourself a cuppa  Coffee

    and Enjoy!

AH!!!!  patience paid off ~  it finally cooled enuff to get a nice slice...
a "Nice lil' slice of Heaven"

    Enjoy ~

This sounds marvelous. Question, if you were to add cherry pie filling, how had you planned to do so. Crush and mix with the cream cheese mixture?

Jolene ~ you are welcome...I'm alreadfy looking forward to a slice after dinner :)

Red ~ No I don't think I would chop the cherries and add to the cream cheese....I don't think the mixture would fit through my tip I used to fill this with...I was thinking about.... maybe fill with the cream cheese and then just pick the cherries from the pie filling and push them down into the cream cheese.....but maybe chopping them before hand (like you suggested) would work great....thanx

I'll let ya know when I try it :)

Hi katemarie - you got my show of hand.  How much snow do you have on the ground? Are you suppose to get any? We have almost 50 inches on the ground - the most in history whoopie! We are under a warning until tuesday morning anywhere from 4-10 inches and then comes the wind - YUCK! I hate winter....

Janie ~ love the idea of blueberries.....a lot smaller to stuff into the cream cheese......your idea gave me another idea for a  add in.....some lemon pie filling mixed into the cream cheese mixture before filling..

I love the combination of lemon & blueberry...in pies, cakes and muffins..

I'll have to try it out....
