Makes 12 servings.

A chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and garnished with chocolate curls and

2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups low fat sour cream
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
2 1/4 cups sugar or Splenda
4 oz unsweetened chocolate, broken up
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup low fat milk
1/2 cup unsalted butter
4 oz unsweetened chocolate, broken up
1 pound box powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup low fat sour cream
1/2 cup shortening
Chocolate curls and Berries

Heat oven to 350°. Grease and flour three 9" round cake pans. CAKE---In a
microwave bowl, melt butter and chocolate together in microwave on high until
melted and smooth, 1 1/2 min. Set aside. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda,
baking powder and salt in a bowl until blended. Add sour cream, eggs, 1 cup
water, chocolate mixture and vanilla, beat 30 seconds until dry ingredients are
moistened then beat 2 min. Pour into pans. Bake 40 min. or until done. Cool
layers in pans on rack 10 min. Remove cakes to rack to cool. FROSTING---In a
microwave bowl, melt chocolate in microwave on high 1 min. Stir until smooth.
Set aside. Beat shortening, butter, sour cream, milk, vanilla, salt, 1 cup sugar
and cocoa in a bowl until creamy. Beat in remaining sugar and melted chocolate
until thick and smooth. Place a cake layer on plate. Spread with 2/3 cup
frosting. Top with second layer, spread with 2/3 cup frosting. Top with
remaining layer. Frost top and sides,
swirling decoratively. Garnish with chocolate curls and berries, then SERVE...
