WELCOME TO THE PCH KITCHENGood morning, so good to see you. We hope you'll find the warmth and the friendship here that we have been privileged to enjoy. We have a common bond. We are Physically Challenged Homemakers. We share affection for one another through compassion, honesty, and most importantly, respect for one another and one another's situations. We gather here to share information on ways to make our lives easier, to offer support to each other and to share humor and laughter, sometimes tears and always good food. There is always room in the kitchen for all who would like to join in...So help yourself to a cup of coffee, cocoa, tea or fruit juice. There are always fresh fruit , muffins, coffee cake and cookies....pull up a chair at the old country table and visit awhile.....and remember to tell a friend. For our old friends that have not been by for awhile, we hope you will drop in and let us know how you are doing.
Keep Smilin'! A good laugh- for any reason- will do anyone good!
Hi! It's been raining off-and-on since Sat. so I haven't had a chance to get outside and plant some seeds for Hyacinth Beans plants. These days are really going fast, can't believe it's May already!
I guess it will be time to put out hummingbird feeders around here now.
Bye for now!
Thanks Mary for opening May Kitchen. Hope you are doing better today. With post polio I also have to be careful not to overdo or I lose muscle. Sometimes it is a fine line in doing and not overdoing.
I made the 3 2 1 cake yesterday. I don't know if it is on Taste of Home or not. It is a recipe to make one piece of cake in microwave. You mix Angel Food Cake Mix with any other Cake Mix you want in zip lock bag or container. Take 3 tablespoons of mix, 2 tablespoons of water and mix in a 1 to 2 cup microwave container. Microwave 1 minute and you have a piece of cake. Perfect for me to have a piece of cake once in a while. I used Red Velvet Cake Mix. May get tired of it before mix is used up.
Rain off and on this week. Couple of days in 50 temps then moving up to 60 degrees.
Connie, how did your eye appointment go?
Wishing all a good day, good week and good Month.
As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God. Psalm 42:1
Deery: sounds like we are having the same problem with muscles!
I've seen so many "cake in a cup" recipes for the microwave. Your method sounds very simple and easy.
It is so humid now because we had the rain, and it is coming up from the ground and keeping the air humid- not real comfortable for sleeping at night. It may be warmer tomorrow, so I'll probably turn on the AC and just close windows when it turns on. It is supposed to be in the upper 80's, and if there's sunshine, it will heat up this mobile home like an oven without AC. We have a ceiling fan, but if the air is hot, it just blows hot air around.
Good afternoon ladies, ummm quiet here, hope everyone is doing well. Bit of rain this AM, with heat it is humid as usual, ran into town for my newspapers this AM, exciting huh? hehe. Deery my eye appt went pretty good, no real change which is good, had not gotten worse, so I go back to see this specialist in 6 months since I see the diabetic eye specialist before that, so Dr Blem said he will make Dr Y's visit count as a 3 month for him as well, did not want me having to live in the drs office. Saw our former paster in the hospital, he had a heart attack, and awaiting tests on Monday to see how much damage, so found out on Mon there is nothing more they can do for him and then he had a light stroke the same day, so much stress. We all love him so, even if he did resign almost two years ago. Please keep Bro Wayne in your prayers. Kerry stayed home Sat because a guy he works with was coming to work on my puter, whoopee, got it running a bit better and cleaned up some issues for me. Love hate relationship with the puter, love when it works, hate when it doesn't. Deery I tried a Strawberry cake mix with Angel food, now that could be alot of cakes me thought, hehe. So I tried just angel food in my container, boy did it start to foam up and over in 10 seconds! I finally had to let it just go and then was not crazy about just the angel food cake fixed that way, but I love reg or sugar free kind. So I decided to try to experiment. I opened another pkg of angel food, I know I know. I opened a pkg of brownie mix. I scooped out only 1 Tbsp of angel food and 4 Tbsp of brownie mix, kind of heaping, and added 2 and half Tbsp of water, and pouring into my container, a corelle kind of soup cup and I did not grease it. I liked it much better, did not have that PAM taste so much either. Oh I forgot to say I took 4 or 5 pecan halves and broke them up into the container before I nuked for the min.Have not seen much of Kerry in the past couple weeks, just in the evening for a couple hours or on the weekend, this is his last week of this schooling, thank goodness, still has his online course that he is about to finish, this part at least. He leaves this coming Monday for Detroit MI again. I send him lunch and also a meal or something light to hold him over till he gets home around 8 sometimes a bit later, he said it has helped alot, hehe. I got my garden all put in, have 3 tomatoes on a vine here on the deck and more smaller ones on other plants, hope they make ok. Others seeds are starting to germinate in the raised garden, excites me, hehe. Well I have yacked way to much, take care and hope everyone is having some decent weather. Hugs, Connie
I put out my hummingbird feeder yesterday and have seen some hummingbirds (maybe the same one each time) already. I also put out the glass- topped bird bath, planted some Hyacinth Bean flowers and annual seeds too. This may be the last year for planting in the ground for me!- my back just doesn't seem to like it- and it sure can get painful. I'll plant my Caladium bulbs in a container/pot this year and will plant tulips in a pot in the fall.
The lawn sure has grown because of the rain the last week, so my boys need to get outside and mow tonight, after work. It is only a mobile home lot, so it is small, but just getting out there is not easy when you are tired.
I'll plant some sunflower seeds made for big pots today. The package said they are good for pots, even though they get tall.
It is sunny/cloudy today. It may be very warm (80's) and the humidity sure is coming up from the soaked ground. I guess the plants really like it.
It's raining a bit this morning, but predicted to just be cloudy and hot this afternoon. My mom is coming to visit and shop (about 2 hrs. away) today, so at least I can get out-of-the-house today.
The clouds sure make it dark in the morning, I like the mornings with the sun shining in all the windows- it is so bright, but can get hot when the sun gets up higher in the sky. I have the lights on, and it's after 8:00 this morning! I looked at the radar, and the big storm part seems to be to the north of us, so we are just getting the "edge" of storms.
It's Friday again!
Connie, glad you eye appointment went well.
Mary, hope you had an enjoyable day with your Mother.
My Mom called today to thank me for the oranges for Mother's Day. She said they were big and sweet. A little early but your never know how long an order will take to be delivered.
Weather page in newspaper said we were going to have 7 days of dry weather. The longest dry spell since last December. 60 degrees today, maybe reach 70 tomorrow. I hope my long sleeved underware can stay put away until fall. It is feeling more like spring with the weather warming. Overcast now. Hope it clears tonight so I can see the supermoom.
Wishing all a good rest of the weekend. Miss you all.

Hi Gals, it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Sunny and clear. Up to 70 degrees. I swept my front deck and ramp. Had lunch on back deck. DD opened the windows. Hope it doesn't get too cold when rain and clouds come back.
Wishing all a good week.
The decorah eagles are finally looking like real birds. I had quit checking on them because they looked like rubber chickens laying there. lol
Hi everyone. Didn't get on last weekend. I played a bit of golf on Saturday (muscles are making me more "weak" now, so I don't play very well, but it's still fun). It was 90 degrees Saturday and Sunday, but a cool front came through last night with storms, so it's only supposed to be 71 degrees today and tomorrow. I have my windows open now, but lights are on because it is so cloudy and dark outside.
My mom & I did some shopping at the mall here, and went to a little restaurant for lunch. I like to do that, because we never did that before I left home, 26 years ago!
The moon was big "looking" but the stories about it being special on that date, are really not true. If you look what NASA says about it, or places that know, you will see that those stories about the moon being so close to the earth at this time, and whatever else they say, are just "stories". If you want to know the truth, you need to look it up on Google or a search on the internet to find legitimate facts. It is nice to look at though, when the moon is big looking (it's because of our atmosphere that there is a "harvest moon").
It's sunny out today. It may only get to be 73 degrees, but that is great- not too hot and not chilly.
I need to get some good potting soil to plant Caladiums in a rectangle planter, and re-pot some plants too. It is cheaper to get a big bag than a smaller bag because the cost for what you get is lower for a big size. The big bags last for about a year (depends on how much and how many times it is used). I need my husband to help me with a big bag though- it sure is heavy.
Just wanted to say hello to everyone, just got home late on Saturday night from our trip. Just trying to get back on schedule. Was a nice trip and got to visit with quite a bit of my family so that was really nice. Jim took down a few trees for my aunt and uncle and burned some piles and some deck work.
It was pretty cold back east and a complete difference from what we have here now, has been in the high 70's to 80's. Welcome back to california that is for sure. Loving the warmer weather.
Well better go, have a meeting for the library soon. Hugs, Ann
Ann: great that you are home! It's always nice to "get-away" but sure is nice to come home!
Ann, glad you had a nice visit with your family. Know you are glad to be back home where it is warm.
Hi Mary, hope you are having a good day.
Nancy, missing you. Hope you are doing okay.
Liz, are you back home from the coast get away?
Connie, how are you doing. Know you are keeping busy with yard and garden.
A couple of lightly cloudy days then back to clear and sunny by the weekend.
Wishing all a good rest of week.
