Good morning friend and Happy 236th birthday America.
We were going to bbq but plans have changed. We're supposed to go by a friends house now for a bbq so we're bringing bbq chicken and deviled eggs.
Enjoy your day and your freedom.
Nancy
Good morning Nancy and all my WC friends. I will be really busy in the morning before I go so I'm posting Tue night. Nancy have fun at your BBQ today. Oh my deviled eggs sound so good. Hope there are some at out BBQ today.
Happy Independence Day America. My favorite holiday of the year!!! I will be going to my Nephew & his DW's house for a big family BBQ/pool party. I hope it is warmer this year for the swimming part. Looking forward to having a good time.
I made my Cherry Nut Crunch to take last night and I could tell the difference in those smaller 16oz. boxed cake mixes. I will have to find the post where someone told what to put in them to bulk them back up to the 18oz or so they were before. I know I copied it off but where I put it is the question, lol. It will be fine, but why do they mess with things to save a buck? I would rather pay more than have a recipe I have been making for 30-40 years not turn out right! Do you know what I mean?
I hope everyone has a wonderful day whether you do anything today or not. And I sure agree with Nancy in saying enjoy your freedom, I sure do and I sure love America!!!

~~The most important things in life aren't things!~~
Happy 4th of July friiends! Independence Day is a time to not only celebrate America's birthday, but time to honor the military men and women who protect our freedoms. Thank you and God Bless You!!
Nancy, I hope you and your family have a fun day at the bar-b-q.
Jan, today is your day girl! Celebrate your favorite holiday in style! I hope it's a wonderful day for you and that the weather will be warmer for swimming this year.
I hear you on the smaller cake mix sizes. When I read that they were changing the sizes of the cake mix, I wondered what I was going to do with these recipes that I've made for years. I then saw and copied at a later time some converesion chart, but like you, I have no idea what I did with it. I think I also hear that both Betty Crocker and Pillsbury each have different sizes of mixes. Is that correct? I also would have rather paid abit more to keep the mix the size it has always been.
Dinner today will be grilled burgers, potato salad, baked beans, Vidalia onion casserole, and ice cream for dessert.
Have a star-spangled day everyone!
Lori
Wishing all my southern friends a happy 4th of July
Tasty
Happy 4th!
We're celebrating with friends at an indoor picnic. I don't have to cook a thing. Wonderful! Hope you all have a great holiday
Happy Independence Day! I'm enjoying this break in the middle of the week but I know I'll be confused later. Yesterday felt like Friday, today feels like Saturday, and tomorrow is ... Thursday?
DH & I are headed to the gym. I did some cooking last night for our potluck cookout tonight -- made Tammy's Dulce de Leche Bars -- they look soooo good. And I mixed up Jan's Fiesta Bean & Cheese Dip too. Jan, you're right, that taco seasoning adds just the right "kick"!
Everybody enjoy your holiday and have a safe & happy Fourth!
Elza, I know I get confused too especially when a holiday falls in the middle of the week. I've got to try that Fiesta Beab and Cheese Dip.
Here is a clear pic of Mr. Muffins.
Good morning Mr Muffins~ what a cute picture! Wish I knew how to put one on here of Red. He is being a baby since I am home and wanting combed and petted, follows me all over.
Just made a pizza pan of brownie and layered cream cheese, sugar and vanilla on top of brownies and put strawberries, red reaspberries and blueberries on it and apple jelly over it all. Looks so pretty. Tammy your meatballs are in crockpot and made the Zesta salad supreme which was on the board. So have three things done for tonight.. Doing was and need to get back out there!
Have a good 4th everyone!
Marlene
Happy Fourth of July to all! I hope you have a wonderful day, friends.
I'm enjoying my first cup of coffee, and as soon as I finish writing this post I'll get myself ready and we'll hop in the truck for a day trip. We decided to eat breakfast somewhere, skip lunch and then grab an early dinner. They have a pre show talk at 5:30 that we want to attend. The play begins at 6. I expect we'll get back here around 11:30 tonight. Long day but I'm looking forward to it, and I can always sleep in on Thursday.
I agree about the cake mix size. I am thinking that the last time I checked Duncan Hines was still the larger standard size. I feel the same way about tuna....they keep reducing the size of the can, and now I don't think a small can is enough to do 2 sandwiches anymore. I saw Ina Garten-Barefoot Contessa-the other day on tv making something with tuna and she talked about how wonderful the canned Italian tuna is. If we are ever in a store and I see some, I think I'll grab it and try it.
God Bless America!!
Happy 4th of July friends! I hope you all have a fantastic day with your party (and theater) plans! If DH gets off early enough we may head to in-laws for fireworks. The boys and I will hit a fireworks stand this afternoon and pick up a few fountains, etc. Mom and Dad have miles of dry fields behind them, so we want nothing that can fall in the field and start a fire.
I'm making a double batch of meatballs in my double crockpot. One side with marinara- we can make sandwiches with picnic sides, and the other side sweet and sour, to be served on rice (or in a sub I suppose). Thanks for the marmalade recipe- I have put that one in my to-try pile for later. It sounds very good.
Oh, by the way, when you find your cake conversion- print it on a recipe card and put it in your file box. A long time ago Duncan Hines had "light" cake recipes on the box. I printed it on a card and then suddenly it wasn't on the boxes any longer. I'm so glad I have that with the lesser egg/oil amount. On the back side I'm going to write the conversion for the smaller size boxes.
Have a wonderful day. I'm off to get another cup of coffee and enjoy the quiet morning!
Ellie
Happy 4th Of July Everyone. Proud to be a American.
I am having BBQ Stuffed Hamburgers, Macaroni Salad, Fruit Salad, Squash from our garden, Deviled Eggs and Flag Cake and Ice Cream. They we will go watch the fireworks.
Have a Fun Day,
Vicki
Weather played a change in plans today.
Some thunder and lightening set in around noon, so instead of grilling early, thought we'd wait. Big mistake. By the time we were ready the 2nd time around to grill, more storms moved across from the east coast and this time brought rain too. Ended up having to pan fry the burgers--ok, but looked forward to grilling. Oh well, another time.
Elza, isn't your youngest DS due back home around now some time?
Nancy, love the picture of Mr. Muffins.
Since DH has to get up early for Home Depot tomorrow morning, we will not go down to the beach to see the fireworks. The traffic is unreal and afterwards takes hours to get off the island. Oh my, maybe it's a good thing we planned not to go to the fireworks--I can hear DH snoring up a storm in his Lazy Boy. What an exciting evening!
However you celebrated today, hope it was special times with family and/or friends and good food.
cooktocook Elza, isn't your youngest DS due back home around now some time?
Lori, he will get home on Saturday! Very happy about that.
Potluck update: both dishes were a big hit. Came home with almost-empty dishes and requests for recipes. Thanks to Tammy and Jan for two good recipes!
