really enjoyed the article on Joan (MarineMom_texas), Sue Gronholz and Ms. Susan Stetzel. What fun that you girls got to meet up at the Taste of Home offices!
Joan-your steak recipe looks like something we're going to really enjoy-and the cake? Oh my GOODNESS-that looks decadent.
Sue-we LOVE pasta and I've yet to try marinated artichokes.....might just add them to the grocery list so I can give them a try in this one.
Sue Gronholz's potato salad and cheesecake look really super too.
And you all got to taste test each others dishes? How cool is that?
I was reading this while taking a lunch break with Bob-the minute I saw who all the article was about, I said to Bob-Hey-I "know" these 2 girls!
Congrats on the super write up-and the photos of you all are wonderful!
Carol
Carol, thanks for the nice comments. We had a blast doing the photos and video. Sue's pasta dish and my steaks smelled so good while they were cooking for the video - it made us hungry. And, yes, we got to taste Sue's cheesecake. OMG was it good. Yes, the Praline Ice Cream Cake is a real favorite and so delicious. I hope you get to try some of these dishes.
We had such a good time and it was so fun getting to meet Susan in person. Sue, too, but as you know, I already knew Susan from the boards. I felt like I knew Sue because I have seen her recipes in TOH for years.
Glad you enjoyed the article.

Thanks Carol! It was really so much fun & meeting Joan was a thrill!!! It was like meeting an old friend for the first time.
That cheesecake is to DIE for! Seriously! And ya know they were so mean to us - they made us take bite after bite after bite......oh well, anything to get a good picture right?
There's a healthy version of that Greek Pasta too - Healthy Cooking did a make-over on it.

Joan, I can imagine all the wonderful aromas wafting through that kitchen while everything was cooking-MMMMMMMM! Now the woman doing the interviews-is that Catherine Cassidy? Good grief I'd have been a wreck being interviewed with a camera rolling.....cooking while being filmed too? I'd have probably chopped my hand off! All of you gals did great. Thanks so much for the link-I really enjoyed watching them.....it was so nice to put a voice to the people I see in the avatars. :)
Oh Sue...........could it get any worse........making you all sit and endure bite after bite of that cheesecake? You guye were troopers taking one for the team-if only every challenge was that easy-and delicious-huh? It looks so rich and decadent...........what a treat. How close was Sue to the TOH headquarters-I notice she lives in WI?
Thanks for the link on the lightened up version of your pasta-you know-now that I think of it-I think I have that Healthy Cooking magazine and had dog eared that page. I just finished filing all my Taste of Home, Quick Cooking/Simple and Delicious and Healthy Cooking magazines in a file cabinet by month-I'll have to take a look-see. Much easier to put my hands on the right issue now.
Thanks again Joan and Sue-it was really fun "meeting" you girls,
Carol, yes, that was Catherine Cassidy, editor in chief, and she is such fun. Actually, I was very nervous before going to Milwaukee but once there, everyone was so nice and so much fun that we all relaxed. It made filming our interviews very easy. I felt like I was just sitting there chatting with Catherine.
Sue lives about 45 minutes away from where we were filming, which was a small town close to Milwaukee. She and her husband are such nice people. I enjoyed meeting them and getting to know them. As you can tell from the pictures, her cheesecake was absolutely delicious.
We all had a wonderful time and believe me, TOH rolled out the red carpet for us. We met so many "behind the scenes" TOH workers. They were all extremely friendly and helpful. They really made us feel like we were a part of the TOH family.
Believe me, I am truly honored that they chose my recipes to be included in their Best Loved Recipes cookbook.
Thanks for all the kind comments, Carol.
Carol, Sue posted a picture of the house where we had our photo shoot and video on this thread:

Hi Joan-that's great that you and Susan and Sue had such a wonderful time. You guys looked like pros during those videos! It helps when the interviewer makes you feel very at ease for sure.
So Sue had a fairly short "commute" to the headquarters then-I say short because my husband's commute to work is longer than that. I'll have to pull some of my old issues of TOH and peek at some of her recipes.
What fun to see all the goings on behind the scenes and such.........makes you look at the magazine through different eyes now that you've seen how it's done huh? You gals are all part of their "family" with all that you contribute-I'm sure they were happy to have you visit.
Yes, I can see what an honor it is to have your recipes included in that new cookbook-again many congratulations. :)
Oh-and thanks so much for sharing the link to the house-what a beautiful place-it looks so peaceful and serene. And what a gorgeous kitchen too.
I'm sure you all had tons of fun and what wonderful memories you have of it all too.
I'll tell you what - Catherine is the perfect fit as leader for Taste of Home. She is about as down to earth as you can get. Chatting over a cup of coffee with her is no different than chatting over a cup of coffee with all of you.
GOOD JOB, GALS !!
Marilyn
I agree ! Food Looks great ! Just like the 3 of you do . You all look so comfortable and relaxed. I'd be shakin in my boots.
The recipes sound fantastic. All winners .
I must say that this months magazine is really nice. So many appealing recipes. Hard to pick one! All of them very Test worthy .
Janie
I'm glad you like it Janie. Taste of Home is really trying to get back to the roots of the magazine, celebrating great home cooks. I'm sure there are nothing but good things ahead.
I really think that this months Magazine really does a grest job of focusing on the home cooks. Just like they promoted years ago in their earlier magazines.
Its great to see the faces that prepaes the tasy food. Could be your next door neighbor !
Appy_Girl Could be your next door neighbor !
