The temps here yesterday never left the 60s Yes.

Tonight I'll grill the pork chops.

Hello friends. I enjoyed reading about you on Friday. I agree, the shooting was terrible- I have relatives in Aurora but haven't tracked them all down yet. Prayers for the whole community.

Not much from me tonight- I just wanted to say hello. Nancy, I think we will do pork chops for Saturday night's dinner as well. Sides to be decided. The boys are helping with the cooking chores since I'm having a rough week. I had a reaction to the pain meds, and am now feeling awful due to the infection I have. But I have been in touch with my dentist and we are keeping tabs on things. I had to discontinue the pain med as it seems I've developed a sensitivity to acetaminophen. Last night was a terrible couple of hours while it ran through my system.

Thursday night the boys made spaghetti, and Friday night they made turkey burgers with picnic sides. We did a few cleaning chores earlier, including stripping all of the beds, so they are being wonderful kids right now.

Time to rest. Talk to you soon, have a blessed Saturday,

    Ellie

Hi there, just checked in before shutting this computer down for the night and noticed this post.

Nancy, I will gladly send you some of my heat if you are coldWink.  I always think I want heat until we get two or three days in a row and then I am so ready for the 70's once again. House is still hot and it's 8:20pm, sigh! I know, I know were sissy's out here.

(((Ellie))), thank God you have such good boys to help out righ now bless their hearts.  I sincerely hope your feeling better by Sat morning.  That's too bad about the allergy to the pain med, that stinks! If your on antibiotics I hope they kick in soon!

Lori, I saw your post last night just so you know someone saw it. Have fun today if you and DH go on that outing.  I will let you know the link when I'm sure which one it is. I am having a hard time remembering my password to it from last year as well. This happens each year because I don't like to keep the same p/w for everything, LOL.

In the middle of the night Thurs or early Friday I was laying awake thinking of something I wanted to clarify about something I said here on the board and now I will be darned if I can remember what it was?  Anyway it was a mistake on my part so if I said anything that sounded not right I realized what happened....oh my this is making no sense but it made perfect sense in the nightConfused LOL.

I have to get up mighty early so will be back sometime later in the day with my exciting dinner plans. Wink on the exciting part.

    Good morning.

Lori, I read your post on Friday night.  Not sure I like the idea of anyone going to see the Batman movie. No matter how much security they say they have.  I wonder if anyone one of us can relax in a movie from now on.  Defeats the purpose of going.

Jan, lol on forgetting what you thought about during the middle of the night.  Things seem so huge in the night when I am awake and thinking.

Ellie, glad everyone is pitching in.

Nancy, are you enjoying your summer?

No cooking for me.  We have tickets to the Padres.  DD is coming over to sit with the dogs as there is a firework show after.

    Have a wonderful day.

    Mornin' all

Good to se you back posting again Betsy but sad that the summer break is just about over for your family. Have fun at the game.

Lori, Glad you enjoyed the 2 day seminar and got something out of it.

Marlene, enjoy some time doing something for yourself while hubby is away.  You pamper everyone else, now it's time to do the same for yourselfSurprise

Ellie, you trained the boys wellWink A good thing they are old enough to help out.  Hope your mouth settles down real quick.

Our temp dropped way down over night and is slowly climbing back up - so far we're at 54 and it feels wonderful.

Nothing too exciting going on here.  Some housework around here and a trip to the store.  If we have time, I'd like to get out to the local bluberry patch and pick a few quarts for the freezer.

    Have a great w/e,

    Tasty

So true! Things seem so much more confusing at 3:00 in the morning.

Betsy, good to hear from you again. Have fun at the ball game!

Thanks so much to all of y'all for thinking of DS the other night when he was at the movies -- ((hugs)) to all of you.

Ellie, bless your sweet heart. What an awful time you have had. I sure do hope that you are starting to get some relief from the pain and infection by now. I hate that for you, but how wonderful that your guys are able to take care of things and keep themselves fed. You've done a great job teaching them!

Lori, I'm so glad that the workshop turned out to be beneficial, and then to find out you get paid for it too -- icing on the cake.

Jan, after 3 or 4 days of 100+ temps, we were happy to have 90s again! It's all relative. I remember being out in LA in July several years ago and it was just such perfect weather. I could get used to that real quick!

Did y'all see Tammy's post last night about being in a Mexican restaurant and seeing the guy eating chips and salsa with chopsticks? I'm still trying to figure out how you would even do that! Confused

Nancy's grilled pork chops and Tasty's blueberries both sound good. I'm not cooking today -- off on a shopping excursion with the church ladies, to an outlet mall up in Indiana. I'm leaving DH and DS to clean house since we have an open house tomorrow. I feel a little bit bad about that, but not bad enough to stay! LOL DH said "go ahead, you need the break" so I'm going to do that.

Hope everybody has a good Saturday ~

Good morning~ Cleaning in DH bedroom and washing as usual. Going to stop and run to town to do some banking and get few groceries. I need to get to the lawn. Don't know what DH had guy put the setting on mower but grass was so dry and now so much laying there it looks awful so will see what I can do with it. Sometimes its better to do yourself? Guess I am too fussy!!

    Everyone have a good day!

Good morning.  Just a quick post for now as we will be running out the door shortly.  DH made me laugh when he said "lets go see the Christmas in July parade, maybe it will feel cooler outside instead of the mid-90's."  One can only wish, right?

Today is Nat'l Junk Food Day.  Do you have a favorite junk food?  Unfortunately, I think I have more than one!

By any chance, would anyone here have a T&T hot fudge sauce (or any other T&T flavor) to put over ice cream?  My DM use to make a wonderful sauce, but I don't know where the recipe has gone over the years.  I want to make/take a jar of it to friends we will be stopping to visit next week as we head towards DD.

Haven't a clue of what is for dinner today. Have a nice day--I'll be back later--DH is ready to go.

    Good Morning,

Ellie, I feel so bad for you.  Hope you're feeling better today.  Thank goodness for your wonderful family.

We had Italian last nite.  There's nothing quite like a bowl of pasta to soothe the soul.  Tonite I think we'll have some Bachelor Chicken.  Also hungry for scallopped potatoes.

    Have a lovely Saturday, friends.

Helen, I totally agree about the pasta soothing the soul...it's my favorite food!

I was at the airport and back with a stop at McDonalds with coffee, oj, pancakes and sausage in hand...I needed it! I was craving that this morning so it sure hit the spot and was good! I am not going to beat myself up over it otherwise I shoul not have had it...right?EmbarrassedWinkRight!

DS's flight is free. One of his students in Phoenix who's parents travel up for him to coach her works for the airline and he had to fly stand by.  He just called and got on the 6:45 to Phoenix. Could be in Phx between an hour to 6pm tonight depending on cancellations...but it's free so he is not complaining.

Gosh I am now thinking about making Fiesta Spaghetti but will either be that or a LC or WW dinner and salad depending on my mood later and how hot it gets here in the house!

    Have a beautiful Saturday friends.

    Mornin' all.

I agree about the pasta comfort food.  Totally love it.  Hubby likes it too but once a week in one form or another is enough for him.  Me, I'd eat it every other dayBig Smile

Hope you enjoyed McDonald's for breakfast.  Every now and then we need to do these things, and you are right, Jan, there's no point beating up on ourselves when we do indulge.

Not sure there'll be much cooking here today.  We're going out for lunch and it will depend what we eat, whether or not we want a meal tonight.  I made a "sausage flan" last night, so there's lots of leftovers if we want some.  (A slice of that made a good breakfastSurprise)

Picked the first batch of beets last night and just finished canning them.  One more job out of the way.

    Have a great w/e,

    Hello again.

I got up early and took the dogs for a run before the heat of the day.  I am going to take the girls swimming this morning.  I want to keep them busy until it is time to leave for the game.

The classroom assignments were posted last night and my third grader is very happy with who her teacher is.  Monday we go to the middle school for orientation and then back to open house to meet all dd's teachers.  Sigh. I miss having her at the elementary school already.

Jan, you have to cheat once in awhile.  Don't feel badly, you have to live a little.

Thanks for missing me this summer.  So sweet of all of you.

Hi me again.  Oh goodness I think I made a wee mistake eating the Mc D's this morning...I feel like I have a lead baloon in my tummy. Too much of what I am not used to but it tasted so good going in, lol.

On the upside my son did not get on his connecting flight so the lady who got him the ticket told him to go upgrade for $20 to first class as they get priority on standby and he is onboard his flight in "first class" as I type this.  It pays to know someone in the industry and to own an iPhone at the airport to keep in touch, lol.

tasty, you did a good job canning those beets today.  I bet that can be a messy chore if your not careful.

Betsy, so glad your 3rd grade DD got a teacher she likes.  Awe, I know it's so hard when the kids are growing and moving up.  I am having a time adjusting to oldest DGD being graduated (already). Things never stay the same which is good and bad at the same time if your one who does not like change like me.

Is anyone watching Big Brother? I heard a spoiler on facebook a little while ago but won't put it on here like that lady did in case anyone watching wants a surprise.  I wish they didn't have that live feed because it spoils it when people say what happened before it airs. Why do I watch that????? I just love reality TV.  By the way I am loving the new Dallas but you really have to watch or you could miss a plot twist. On July 4th I thought they were just showing all the previous episodes so people could see them and sure enough I missed that weeks episode and I checked and I could tell right away something happened I diddn't know.

    Hi all,

Ellie, sorry to read about the bad reaction you had. Good thing your family is helping out alot. Feel better real soon!

Lori, I think I tried to make hot fuge sauce once and it was grainy so never tried again. Hope you get a great recipe. Hope you had fun today. I had 2 pieces of that creamsicle pie left, so the other night I drizzled some hot fudge syrup on one...oh my stars was it ever good!

We are in Albuquerque. We had thought about going to Santa Fe, but DH drove 9 hours, minus the 30 minutes we stopped at Subway for a sandwich. He was tired, so we are stopping here for a few days. My oldest DS's in=laws live here, so we will go to their church tomorrow. I have a call in to them now to find out service times, and if they will be there, and which service (I think there are 2). We plan on taking a day trip to S.F.

Tonight I plan on making the dijon pork chops, probably with rice, and I bought some broccoli to steam.

I still can't get over the guy eating chips and salsa with chopsticks. He did use his left hand to get the tortillas,  then he filled it with the fajita meat and vegetables, using chopsticks, then ate with his left hand. He just would not touch any food with his right hand.

    Hope everyone's weekend is wonderful.

Here's my favorite -- my mother found this recipe years ago and we've used it ever since.

    1-2-3 Fudge Sauce

1 large can evaporated milk (I think it's 12 oz)

    2 cups sugar

    3 squares baking chocolate

Combinein saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook 5 minutes, stirring vigorously. Remove from heat and add:

    1 tsp. vanilla extract

Beat with rotary beater for 1 minute. Serve hot or cold over ice cream or cake.
