Good morning! May I?
I can't beleive that it will be August in a couple of days..
I do apologize for my lack of catch-ups....I don't mention eye surgery, new cars, casino trips, wallpaper, sore teeth, walleye or visits with family...I will do better this week! ( Said she with great conviction!)
I hope your week looks good- I've got a few things planned- one is my DDS appt today, a trip to camp tomorrow, a picnic at a friend's camp later, etc...
We are getting so many tomatoes on the plants- we have been having ( well, i've been trying to eat) some small grape tomatoes...yum! We have lots on the vine- Big boys, some Roma and some Heirloom...they will probably all ripen at once!
Steve had a small steak last night and I had a hot dog-..I can't wait until I can have my regular stuff again...
Well, Fester is waiting for his catch up, so I'll go along...
Waving, sending hugs to all and my wish for a great day!
Margaret
This looks good- and will be great with our own tomatoes! ( when it's cool enough to turn on the oven!)

Gm Everyone ! M, no problem sweetie. We know you are dealing with much soreness and the slow healing must be very frustrating!
Sorry for the mia yesterday. I had double duty kitchen duty. Made up some treats for our visit.
Meatballs, Stuffed Jalapenos. Broccoli Salad. Shrimp Butter ( awesome dip/spread ) and Clams Casino. Morning just escaped me. Then we got caught up in the Olympics! Wow.
Enjoyed visiting the kids as Tracey was babysitting Payon. What a doll face. And she was wearing her little Pink Phillies Shirt. Too bad they got a shut out. Blair really looks good. he has been working on a Boat Model. Its all wood and its really coming along nicely. Great workmanship. It takes patience, cutting out the wood.
Walls are stripped clean. Mr has a few patches to do then it will be ready for the paint. Hopefully we will then move into the hallway ! Thats a piece of cake.
I too have a few tomatoes. Eggplant and peppers not doing to well. I saw 2 perfect green tomatoes in the super. I was sooooooo tempted to buy them for fried green tomatoes, It was really tough leaving them there.
I watched a small bit of the Equestrian. The horses are absolutly beautiful, Very manicured. They all looked like winners.
PT today Only 2 weeks left and I am done done !
have a great day
Janie
Good morning to all!
M.- Hope you are continuing to heal. I imagine you are really looking forward to getting back to regular food.
Janie- Good luck at PT today. Two weeks to go!!!
Will check back later today to see what's up with everyone. Enjoy the day!
Thanks for the Link M, It looks outstanding. Printed it out to try !
Hi Connie, Hope the meds have kicked in and are kicking the shingles away !
Hi-
I must say I love coming here...it is always a place for encouragement and good vibes! Each of you two has reason to complain, but neither of you does...wonderful attitudes, friends!
Off to my appt....back later!
Good Morning all. Supposed to 100 again. Can't seem to shake them but cooling off to mid 90's later in the week.
M the recipe does look terrific. To bad hubby won't eat any veggies. Problem is that if I make it I will eat the whole thing..................which now that I think about it may not be that bad.
Renate, beautiful baby for sure. Haven't seen Pat for some time. My husband stopped in to see one of his friends, Pat's brother in law Bill and did get to see her sister Margie. I don't know if you remember seeing Pat's mom but Pat looks just like her. My maiden name was Mary Fournie, now Mueller. Originally from Freeburg.
Later, Mary
I am also sick of the hot temps. I have to say that my favorite month is October, and on these hot humid days I daydream about crisp mornings, warm sweaters and pumpkins.
My shingles really seem to be under control. Getting on the meds early was the key I think. The discomfort has pretty much subsided and the three patches of blisters get better by the hour. OK, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit, but I really think they are improving. Even my DH, who came home for lunch, thought that they looked much better.
Mary- My husband is not a big eater of veggies either. His mom was not a good cook and did not really help her kids fall in love with them. I keep trying, and sometimes I sneak them into things like meatloaf.
How is everyone doing today?
My Mary, What horrible temps! we too have had an exceptionally hot summer. Today is perfect. We may even get a shower. Told Mr Not to put the weed killer down. Sometime she just needs to listen to the Boss ever once in a while.
M, You too are very encouraging ! and always have such a great attitude as well. ! heck we all do !
Therapy went very very well. I wited till the very end to get the stretching done . Great idea. From now on I'll do all of the table exercises, Bike and treadmill first..That really seemed to loosen me up ! Walking is just not enough.
After talking with several other patients I am very happy with the way everything went. Some gals really have a hard time. poor woman sounded like she was in child birth today. Felt so bad for her. She has already been 8 weeks in Pt and will need more. she really is trying hard to complete the exercises. And her stretching is so much more intensive then mine is. She just cannot bend her knee ! What a shame.
Carol, Mr had the procedure done because his pressure is high. in the back of the eye. I hope it works, We will know next Friday.
Also got a paint sample to try in the room. Its very hard to describe. But its on the Grey side. Will give it a test tomorrow. Its good to buy a small sample for a few bucks just to try,
Anybody catch the Opening of the Olympics ! i loved the James Bond stint ! One of the patients told me that the Brooche that the Queen was wearing was a gift form the 1940"s olympics that she attended. Can one imagine. It was stunning to say the least ! Loved the dogs running down the stairs ! she is amazing and one can only imagine what she has seen in her lifetime ! I'd love just 5 %.
Have a great night
Hi everybody ~
Are you sure this is the beginning of another week???? AND... nearly August!!! OK where is the summer going?
Margaret, I told you before... you're excused from catch up class!! You're the one that's always doing catch ups. Don't worry if you skip a couple of days. You're allowed! I'm glad someone is getting tomatoes. I've got six plants out back and have only gotten a handful of tomatoes. They're really small too. I don't know if it's the variety or the lack of water, although, I've tried to keep them watered. That's OK if they ripen all at once, though. Just take off the skins, cut up & freeze. That's what I do & then make spaghetti sauce or throw them in soup. Nothing like homegrown. How much longer before you can eat normal again? Yum, that casserole looks delicious!
My goodness, Janie, I guess you were on kitchen duty yesterday. You must have been in there all day long! All those things that you made sound wonderful. That's great that Blair is keeping busy with the models. When I was a kid, I used to buy model kits of NASA rockets. I was fasinated with space travel. I didn't want to become an astronaut, but sure was interested in everything else. He must love having Payton around too. I would have loved to see her in that shirt. How cute!!! Yep, I'm ready for a few green frieds too, but we just have to wait. I've been trying to tune in when the equestrian events are on, but all I seem to be able to find is swimming and I've seen so much of it, I'm getting wrinkled from being in the pool so much! I'm sure the equestrian events are on after I go to bed.
Hi Connie. I'm hoping you're feeling better with your shingles. Hopefully by now they have started to heal. You poor girl. I feel so bad for you.
Margaret, I can't tell you how much I love coming here too. We've all been such good friends over the years, even though we've never met.
OMG Mary, how nice to see you. Yep, I would make that casserole for myself. Just make half the recipe. Things like that make a great lunch. My husband wouldn't eat it either. He likes tomatoes, but don't cook them like that. I'm married to a fuss-budget!
Noooo Connie, don't wish the summer away. I know, I don't like these hot humid days either. Actually I'd really hate 100's. Our temps. are going up again w/ humidity, but thankfully they haven't lasted long so it's not been too bad. My being able to get away this summer has also made it more tolerable. I love those crisp mornings, warm sweater & pumpkins too, but I'm not ready for them just yet. I'm glad to know that your shingles are getting better. At this rate, they should be gone before you get back to school. Good thing you caught it early.
I'm going to fix a chicken salad for dinner tonight & I've got peaches that I picked up the other day that need to be used up. I'll just slice them up, then sprinkle w/ some Splenda brown sugar. Not much else going on today. I downloaded Janet Evanovich's books 4 & 5 of the Stephanie Plum series. Started 4 last night. I'm so glad I got talked into reading her. She's amazing! I'll check out what's on the Olympics tonight. Hope they put something else on besides swimming. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Barb
Hi Barb, The Cross Country was on this morning. Princess Anne's daughter Sarah was in it and her Horse was beautiful ! Lots of members from the royal family attend the event this morning. It was a very hard course, Both for the horse and rider. At the end there the horses were immediately hosed down and check out by Vets on hand. Then they were fed and stalled. Well taken care of.
I too am sick of swimming . We were all talking about that today at Pt. Others felt the same way. And it seems that the good events are on late at night !
happy reading !
i really have to start thinking about Dinner !
Hello!
Well, DDS said all looks good- so when everything feels good, I'm set! (another week or so- I shan't be too hasty- don't want a relapse!) ( wine is once again OK...yipee!) The last few nights I've had diet tonic and fresh lime- very good- almost didn't miss the gin! ( you notice I said almost..)
Here's a great looking sandwich:
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/bacon-peach-and-arugula-sandwiches-recipe/index.html using the fresh peaches Barb has me wanting!
I also must go do my stretches... I wish I had been at your house for your food extravaganza, Janie...it sounded so good!
Hi, Mary- I know Renate will love seeing your post....but man, GF...way too hot ! Have some iced tea!
Connie- so glad things are clearing up...
Steve's out at golf...I had some soup...and i'm about to try a wee bit of wine..
Have a good evening, friends...
I'm off and running this AM- I'll send Renate a note to be sure she saw Mary's note...
Waving and sending hugs to all...
Back mid-morning!
Gm Everyone, My where in the Hay ddid July Go?? Right out the back door. Thanks M, another great looking recipe. I just remembered that Jill posted a fabulous one last year, I fregt who made it first but my was it ever wonderful.
The peaches were cut in 1/2 then grilled? and stuffed witha wonderful filling. Cream Cheese Perhaps?
Awesome. I'll check my Review thread I know its there! In our area, The white peaches are in. And I must say our local corn looks terribly Thin !
May have to do a few more Eggplant roll ups ! Our favorite !
Great news Mz M, have fun at the picnic . Mr is golfing today. Hope he can get a full round in. Last week the heat got so bad that the group quit after 9 holes. .
Phillies under the stars tonight ! Now what can I throw on the grill .
No matter the plans for the day ! Make it a good one !
Good morning to all! Yes, here it is the last day of July. I agree with all those who are wondering where the summer has gone. (I know I told you in an earlier post that I love October, but the realization that summer vacation is almost over just hit me hard!!)
M.- glad you got a good report at the dentist. By the way, a gin and tonic is one of my favorite summer drinks. I've got diet tonic at home and at the cottage, but very few establishments around here carry it, so I often pass on that when I'm out. The regular tonic has quite a few carbs.
I splurged and had sweet corn for lunch yesterday. Yummy! Tastes like summer to me.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
