I need to replace my food processor and woudf like your opinion on what you think is the best. I have a kitchen aide 9-cup. The base works great but I need to replace the bowl and it will cost me $108.00. When I bought this one it was only $149.00 and I afraid to spend that much on a bowl for an older model. What kind would you recommend. I was looking at a13-cup kitchen aide. Thanks for any help you can offer.
I may have heard on the radio that new KitchenAid food processors have dropped lower in the charts in either Cook's Illustrated or Consumer's Reports reviews. I can't recall if the bowl or blades were changed so food is not fully processed.Whoever did the review is now recommending Cuisinart.~~Vicki
Vicki's memory serves her well - Cook's Illustrated is recommending the Cuisinart Custom 14-Cup Food Processor but they're not happy with the small feed tube. I don't use mine very often, I have a Black & Decker. For what I do with it - it works okay.

Hi-
I have the Ninja food processor/ blender /magic machine...rated very highly in CR's latest issue...
I got mine from QVC, and I love what it does for me- it's multi container, and really does a good job. If I did a lot of processing, I might not love this, but everything I have done is great. Turns ice into snow in a blink- great snowcones or frozen Margaritas...their bigger system also kneads dough and has a mixing paddle...I made ham salad in a blink yesterday with the regular one. www.qvc.com will help you see what I'm talking about!
Good luck!

rorreebut I need to replace the bowl and it will cost me $108.00.
I know your question was to replace your Processor but I found $108 a really high number. I just replaced the work bowl on my Cuisinart and it was around 30 dollars from Amazon. The work bowl cover was not damaged so I could use my existing cover I just bought the work bowl.

I have had a Cusiinart 7 cup food processor for a long time, but I eventually chipped the plastic bowl. (probably 12 years or so after I bought it) and the lid would not lock properly after that.
I often use it (or my KA mixer) for Pizza dough . I also use it for shredding cheese, vegetables etc. I would not hesitate to buy another Cuisinart Food processor if and when it wears out.

Oooo Margaret - I forgot about that Ninja thing. The lady that owns our local store bought hers at Sam's or Walmart and just loves it!
Darn it Margaret.
I am very big into gadgets when it comes to cooking or baking items so I will have to check out the Ninja now even though I barely have enough storage space for what I have now. Sounds good.
