Good work day morning, it's back to the mines for some of us.I slept good, woke up a few times but just rolled over and went right back to sleep.Supposed to be 88 today,that's a 20 degree drop from last week.AHHHHH. I'm gonna put in for vacation next week, cross your fingers that the house doesn't collapse.LOL make your day great. Depo!!!
We have been having trouble with our internet service since last wednesday when we got smacked with that huge storm. I don't watch any tv and when I'm home I spend many hours with my little laptop. Since I was quite annoyed my Dh said why don't I call our provider. I had problems in florida and made a pest of myself and got it fixed so he figured let me annoy the people up here also. Well, what a pain. I didn't get a person. Got a robo voice that really Pi**ed me off. I keep saying "assistance" and something happend and I got a guy. He said when did the problem start, I said wednesday the day we got the storm. Stupid me! Thinking he was from our area! He wasn't and gave me lots of double talk. I told him to just send someone over to check the connections in case something got fried from the storm. Every single thing you do now is a MAJOR production. Nothing is simple.
Good morning~ Well got home yesterday and did not get vehicle unpacked when DFIL called and Mom fell in bathroom and he thought she had a another mini stroke. So took her to hospital and all checked out o.k. she has a sore shoulder and taking tylenol. She could not remember my name to tell DFIL to call me. But when we got to town she was remembering few things. It is a trying time lately. So 5 hrs later I was back home and running in circles. I brought home small pickles to make lime pickles so didn't get them started at all.
Well will stop and see how she feels this morning and go to work. I had nice week-end. Seen both my aunts. One who is 88 can't walk anymore from stroke and is incontinet and other one is 93 and walks all over with her walker. Was nice to see them. Seen SIL she is having troubles with back and shoulder and taking acupuncture for it after having surgery. We all are getting old! Sis was doing pretty good. The co style ribs I took up there we had a feast. So good! I got up at 4 and bars Sat. could not sleep. My 2 nieces fought over them. We had a wonderful week-end.
Off to work and will stop to check on folks!

I laughed when I read this.....isn't it the truth?? I doubt I will be able to get pics sent.....my desk computer shot craps and I am now using a laptop that I know nothing about and hate. When I get this project finished and have some time...I need to get a new desktop and get it set up....maybe then...I will have a way to post some pics. Did you get your mussels??
Marlene, You poor girl....you just can't catch a break. It was good to see that you enjoyed your time away, though. When my Dad was having the mini-strokes they told us that sometimes they were small enough that they couldn't tell at the hospital. He never had a problem with his memory at that time though, that came later. Oh my, such sadness.
Paulette, It sounds as if you hit the floor a running this morning......hate those mornings...I haven't forgotten them.
Elaine, You asked about the sets of dishes.....yes, I have a set for everything..and then some. I have a two sets of Noritake....a set of blue bubble..a set of Corelle Christmas dishes, a set of Thanksgiving dishes, a set of Wexford, a set of desert rose that my Mother had, a set of Corelle that we use....a new set of Corelle that I have got for my new kitchen, a set of the pastel dishes that I absolutely cannot come up with the name of....I'm keeping them....they are my very favorite and complete with sherberts, etc. I have shrimpers....oh the list just goes on forever. We did entertain lots, however, that ship has sailed and I am just so tired of taking care of all of this "stuff." My kids are not the least interested in anything that we have....so.....I'm downsizing. LOL. Lands that didn't include the cake stands and the multitude of glass serving platters. I am pretty excited about all the room I am going to gain.
I have had tons of interruptions this morning while typing this......gonna be one of those days. Have a good one... I will check back in a few.

Weather here is cool this morning. I think maybe fall is thinking about entering the picture. Diane I think you will be happy about that. Me--it's ok but not looking forward to what follows that.
The paper this morning is advertising that our Apple Orchard will be opening for the season on Friday. I don't remember it ever opening this early before.

Whew, had both GK's, one overnight and again tonight, the other is here all day..... I just wanted to come on quick and say hi to everyone.
Weekend was busy too, Saturday did 17 qts. tomato juice and 11 pints of tomato sauce. Had a campfire at a friends house Sat. night. Yesterday a group of us got together and froze 360 ears of corn, we each got 35 qts. it was fun and easy to do that way.
Last night had DS#1's and DDIL and DGS over for DS#1's bday dinner. Just taking a quick breather right now but I have to get egg salad made for lunch and get a beef roast in the oven for dinner then I have to run to the grocery store. I hope this week goes by fast!!!
Nan, are your apples over there plentiful? I talked to a local orchard at the Farmers market on Saturday and they said they lost 90% of their crop and the price of apples will increase by 100%, wondered if it is that way everywhere, if not I think I will have DH getting apples for me while he is on his travels...
I see your busier than busy Paulette, I hope it will be just for today for you and the rest of the week will be quietier.
Hi Diane, still in the midst of the kitchen nightmares I see, that sure is alot of dishes, but very pretty I bet, I like that kind of stuff too but only have a corelle everyday set and a really nice set that DMIL gave me, I also have some of that blue frost glass that my DGM gave me that I display in a cabinet she gave me, she said it was her mothers and is very old.
Soo sorry to hear about DMIL Marlene, that is my biggest fear for my DMIL too... I hope she is better today. You must be wore out after being gone all weekend and coming back to that. Take care GF, (((((HUGS)))))

Hi Linda, I hate hate hate having to make those phone calls......such a hassle and time consuming... I am getting very anxious to get to FL, are you? We already have guests planning to visit in November, really fun friends who come down every year for a week.

Linda-I did see where your DS went to Sturgis. Some day we hope to go to Yellowstone and around that area on the bike. We have done 3000 miles last year in one trip! I like going with others.

Deb- That is a lot of canning! I am going to be doing tomatoes this week and then applesauce and applebutter next week. I froze up some corn last week but they are not getting much this year so I will not have much for the winter.

You know I can't say no to having fun!, lol. We do have two weekends in October that we have plans to be away.....what days are you planning to go out to Western Pa? Bren isn't coming out is she? I'm sure we would have all heard if she was but I just wanted to double check.
Sassy - (from last night) - Thanks so much for the tip on the mint. I like your idea of cutting it back and will do that later today. I 'cleaned' it up yesterday but only took off the dead-ish looking leaves. I keep hearing about all the fires in the West on the news. So scary. I hope it's not near where any of your loved ones live. I have a friend in Boise and I'm hoping he is okay too.
Linda - Thanks, the champagne was good! You are so right that every little thing now is a huge, big deal....ugh!!! Good luck getting your internet fixed up properly.....what a mess that can be. Hope is gets cleared up soon. It will be great to get your NYC fix in before heading down south.....I know you will have a fun weekend in the city this coming weekend!
Marlene - So sorry you had to come home from a trip and deal with all of that right away. I'm glad DMIL checked out okay and didn't break anything.....she is lucky! I know she is dealing with bruises but better than broken bones.....poor thing. Hugs to her and YOU! Glad to have you back GF!
Paulette - Your Monday is starting out busy I see......hope things go as smoothly as they can! You will have a busy week getting the kids ready for college.
Diane - My goodness, that is a lot of dishes.....I bet they are all so pretty too. My Grandmother had Desert Rose.......I think we may have talked about that in the past.....such nice memories for me to remember her making us a cup of coffee. I was supposed to get it when she passed away but, unfortunately, I never did. Are you selling them on ebay? Just curious and if so hope it's successful for you. I've been tempted to sell on ebay but never have.....maybe someday.
Nan - Thanks. Fall will be here before we know it. Like you, love fall, but not what comes after! Your Apple Orchard will be nice to go to and get some goodies at. It does seem early but I guess it's that time of year already. Have fun if you go.

I had a good work out at the gym and exercise classes....I was drenched by the time I was done with that spinning class. If I want to keep it up, I need to buy a padded seat.....I haven't decided yet though so I haven't invested the $$ in the seat until I do. I'm spending the afternoon writing thank you notes, thank you emails and lots of phone calls. It won't look like I accomplished much, but that's the way it is sometimes. No clue as to what is for dinner.....we do have some delicious tomatoes, red bell peppers and cukes that friends have given us from their gardens so I will definitely make a big salad but I need to come up with more than that!

Back home from taking DH to have a trigger finger surgery. I also have the lawn cut. Looks like that will be my job for the next couple of weeks. As long as it is cool. The backyard went better than the front as a big cloud came over and shut out the sun.
