My Mom made the TV Party Mix, subbing corn chex instead of wheat chex....& I just love the Cheerios in that version!!! My Mom would have used margarine instead of real butter, & I don't think she used 3 sticks of it.......much too figure concious! We only had it when she had her annual New Year's open house party. 364 days of the year it was 3 healthy, balanced meals, no snacks at our house.
It's also really yummy if you add a cup of sheze it type crackers to the origanal recipe. Thats how my family makes it!

This is the original Chex Party Mix from Life magazine June 16, 1952. It is reported that the recipe was on Chex boxes in 1952, but I have been unable to obtain a hard copy from a box.
Melt 1/3 c butter in shallow baking pan.
Stir in 1 T. Worcestershire sauce.
Add 2 c. Wheat Chex, 2 c. Rice Chex, and 1/2 c. nuts.
Sprinkle with 1/4 t. salt and 1/8 t. garlic salt; mix well.
Heat 30 minutes in 300°F oven, stirring every 10 minutes. Cool.
