If you need Country, Country Extra, Reminisce, Reminisce Extra or Farm & Ranch Living Recipes

I have all of these magazines since their beginnings and I am happy to look for your lost recipe.

Please respond to this post and let me know what recipe you are looking for, which magazine, and as much information as you know about the approximate date of the issue. I will post the recipe to your attention on the Recipes board and the "side board" in the category which is most appropriate.

    Cake Mix Yeast Rolls
    2 packages granulated yeast
    2 cups warm water
1 box white Jiffy cake mix
    1 teaspoon salt
    4 cups flour or more

Mix yeast and water. Leave set long enough for yeast to dissolve.

Add remaining ingredients. Mix. Let rise to double.

Punch dough down. Make rolls. Let rise to double again.

Bake at 325 degrees F for 20 minutes. Butter tops when removed from oven.

I believe the recipe I lost was in Country over 10 years ago. It was an appetizer. It was in the recipe card section. It was a hot cheese dip recipe that contained Velveta or a similar cheese and a can of chili without beans. There may have been a can of Ortega Chilis or salsa. It was served with tortilla chips.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

    BJ37, I think that I found it.

    Chili Cheese Dip

1 can (15 oz.) chili con carne without beans
1 lb. process American cheese, cubed
1 can (4 oz.) chopped green chiles
    tortilla chips

Combine chili, cheese and chiles in a saucepan or fondue pot. Heat over medium low, stirring frequently, until the cheese melts. Serve warm with tortilla chips. Yield: 12 servings

    Hillsmom,

I would be so grateful if you could find a potato salad recipe for me.  I saw it in Reminisce Magazine several years ago.  Celery, onions, and hard cooked egg whites are all chopped and mixed together.  I believe celery salt is added to the hard cooked egg yolks along with cream and sugar.  It was the best potato salad, and ever since I lost the recipe nothing else comes close.  Thank you so much.

    Keeping my fingers crossed,

Is this the recipe?  I found it in the search, and I thought it sounded like what you were requesting.  It sounds like it makes quite a bit, if you are having company.

    Crowd-Pleasing Potato Salad

    Reminisce

    SERVINGS: 16-20

    CATEGORY: Salads

    METHOD: Chill

TIME: Prep: 20 min. + chilling

    Ingredients:

    • 1 gallon potatoes (about 16 large), cooked, peeled and sliced
    • 10 hard-cooked eggs
    • 1 cup chopped onion
    • 2 cups salad dressing
    • 1 cup half-and-half cream
    • 1/3 cup vinegar
    • 1/3 cup sugar
    • 3 tablespoons prepared mustard
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt

    Directions:

Place potatoes in a large salad bowl. Separate eggs. Chop whites and add to potatoes with onion. Toss gently. In another bowl, mash yolks with salad dressing, cream, vinegar, sugar, mustard and salt. Pour over potatoes and stir to coat. Cover and chill. Yield: 16-20 servings.
