I also love baking soda. Sprinkle a spoonful on the area. Use a wet sponge to make it a slushy paste and work it around. It will soften and loosen the scorchie. Rinse it off with clear water. It always leave a powdery baking soda film. So splash a teaspoon of vinegar on the same area and wipe away the film with a wet sponge. THe stovetop will be shiney clean. If you use the baking soda regularly even the worst areas will eventually lift off. You dont have to scrub really hard - it works more by melting the spots. I have tested it every way. It works best if you do soda first, rinse, then use vinegar. I keep a honey bear filled with vinegar to sprinkle. You can buy baking soda in a shaker at the supermarket
