    Cleaning Burnt Spills on Stovetop

I have a gas stove with a white top, and every once in a while, something will spill and burn on. I haven't been able to get some of the stains off! Does anyone have a favorite cleaner or method that will remove baked-on stains on the stovetop?

I always use scrubbin bubbles it is the one cleaner that I cant live without. I just spray it on let it set for a few minutes and then take a green scratcher pad and it comes off. It is also wonderful for getting built up grease off the hood of stoves it just melts it right off. Try that and see if it works let me know I am curious to see if you have as good of luck as I do with it.

My favorite is to use plain old baking soda on a damp cloth. It will remove the stuff, without scratching. Works every time, for me!

I also love baking soda. Sprinkle a spoonful on the area. Use a wet sponge to make it a slushy paste and work it around. It will soften and loosen the scorchie. Rinse it off with clear water. It always leave a powdery baking soda film. So splash a teaspoon of vinegar on the same area and wipe away the film with a wet sponge. THe stovetop will be shiney clean. If you use the baking soda regularly even the worst areas will eventually lift off. You dont have to scrub really hard - it works more by melting the spots. I have tested it every way. It works best if you do soda first, rinse, then use vinegar. I keep a honey bear filled with vinegar to sprinkle. You can buy baking soda in a shaker at the supermarket

Thanks for the tips. Will try the baking soda tonight, if that doesn't work, will pick up some "scrubbing bubbles" next time I'm out shopping.

Diva, I used oven cleaner on my toaster oven once--I found that it took the paint off if left on; so if you DO use oven cleaner, be sure to wipe it off within a few minutes (and test first in an inconspicuous spot).

My favorite is the old-fashioned Bon Ami cleaner which does not scratch anything and does a good job cleaning and you can scrub with it without scratching. I use it on my new stove with the white glass top. Takes all the burnt on stuff or marks off easily. I buy mine at Tops Grocery Store; some groceries carry it and some don't. Also, can be ordered from cleaning catalogs like Home Trends, etc.
