    Chili?

Ok, they cancelled the chili thing at work Friday. Well, not really, they just decided to have it catered due to lack of participation. But, I still want to try making chili in the crockpot. Here's my question:

I usually put a large can (46 oz) of tomato juice in the chili, because we like it more like a soup and we put crackers or dh puts cornbread in it. But, I know crockpots tend to make things juicier, so would the can of tomato juice be too much? I have a couple of cans of diced tomatoes, should I use those instead? Or is it okay to make it the way I normally do?

I would appreciate any input! TIA!

    RE: Chili?

I always make my chili in the crockpot.. I usually use a couple cans of diced tomatoes and some tomato sauce, have never tried tomato juice tho.

I would think you can just make it the way you normally do and if it turns out a bit more soupy than you want add some tomato paste or refried beans to thicken it up some.

Yes, refried beans work great to thicken chili! and it adds just a bit of another flavor without over powering. I don't like lots of beans in my chili so this works great to still give it that sort of flavor.

    Good Luck!

I would just go ahead and use the tomato juice. You like it the way I do, more soup like :o)
Have you ever put home made noodles in your chili? Very good.

I haven't put homemade noodles, but sometimes I put macaroni or broken up spaghetti. Thanks for the quick replies. I think I'll just use the tomato juice.
