A friend and I always laugh. One of our friends always puts out one of those canned hams with a key opening to serve 8. We always know that we will be a bit hungry after that meal :)

I don't know...I always cook too much, but I'm nervous about a 10 pound spiral-sliced being enough for 15 people! I bought two at the time to keep one, but knowing me I'll end up making them both. Besides, the way it's going, there will be 20 coming by Sunday!

Even though the precooked hams are ready to eat, their flavor is enriched from being baked to an internal temperature of 140°F.

Tiggerz...in my house, the only way a 4lb ham would serve 16...ha!!! We'd have to have lots of appetizers, lots of side dishes, lots of desserts. Oh, and my two nephews better not be included in that 16 people...they'd eat the entire ham between themselves!!
JMHO!! HA!! Enjoy your ham!! :)

It will feed 16 only if they aren't very hungry. I think 12 is more like it and if they are big men with big appetites, think 8-10.

People do not eat serving sizes that are recommended any longer. They are used to the oversized meals from restaurants. It used to be 1/4 pound of boneless meat per person. Now that is about the size of a deck of cards. Personally I know very few people who eat that little meat at a meal especially at a holday meal. They tend to indulge. Now if the ham is not the only meat, turkey, meatballs, roast or whatever, I would say yes because they will eat the other too. But if the ham is the only meat I would suggest that you allow more per person. Marlene
