    Overnight Mac and Cheese

    Overnight Mac and Cheese

    1 can cream of chicken soup
    1 can milk
    1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, cubed
    3 T. chopped onion
    1 cup uncooked macaroni
    2 T butter, melted
    1/4 cup bread crumgs

    Combine soup and milk in greased casserole dish. Stir in cheese, onion and uncooked macaroni. Cover and store overnight in refrigerator. When ready to cook, make topping of melted butter and bread crumbs. Spread over mixture. Bake uncovered for 1 hour at 350 degrees.

    This came from a small town community cookbook. I have not tried it, but it does sound like a good simple recipe. When anyone tries it, please let us know how it turns out.

    Bumping......I'd like to know too. I usually shy away from recipes using canned soup (don't really know why), but I love Mac & cheese and this one does sound good and very easy. :)

    I made this casserole today. It did turn out to be quite good, but it tasted more like a chicken casserole than good old macaroni and cheese. I do recommend it because it is easy, but the chicken flavor does come through. I think I will try a different cream soup like mushroom or celery next time.

    I was thinking about using cr of celery soup when I make it as I have several cans of it for some reason. I'll try that and let you know how mine turns out.
