    Barbecued slow cooked pork

I make hot beefs and hot pork sandwiches but I would like to get a recipe so it tastes like a barbecued pork not just put barbecue sauce on a bun. Anyone help me. Thanks

I cook a pork roast. While it is cooling, shred the pork. Place shredded pork in a large container and add your favorite BBQ sauce, and mix. Store in refrigerate overnight so the pork takes on the flavor of sauce. I have also made this, frozen it, and used it later!

I just asked about this about 3 weeks ago!!

I got a yummy recipe in reply... don't remember who it was from but I'm sure a search for pork roast would bring it up?? Or maybe my name since I am the one who asked?

I wanted the southern style BBQ Shredded Pork - and I got it! I think I changed the recipe just a touch (do good cooks ever just 'follow' a recipe?) LOL. But for the most part I think I used hers and it was AWESOME!!!!!

EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA-STYLE BARBECUE SAUCE Makes 2 cups Adapted from a recipe in Chris Schlesinger and John Willoughby's "The Thrill of the Grill" (Morrow, 1990), this is a classic pepper spiked vinegar sauce.

    1 cup distilled white vinegar
    1 cup cider vinegar
    1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon hot red pepper flakes
Salt and ground pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients, including salt and pepper, to taste, in medium bowl.

This is the one I submitted to meritt, I hope it is the one she liked!

We have a pig roast at church each year, and we usually add -- bbq sauce (I think Open Pit is the sauce of choice) and some chicken broth, which helps it be a little more saucy, for lack of a better word....

    Yummy, though!!!

Hi meritt, Could you tell me how you made your pork? What size roast, how you bake it and put it all together with tvlcat BBQ Sauce.

P.S. Thank you tvlcat for posting your recipe again!

Oooo I'm glad I saw this post again so I could answer your question! LOL.

I used the typical size roast you buy at the grocery store, wrapped with the string to hold it together. I have no idea how big... maybe 3-4 pounds? LOL.

I cooked it in the crock pot with the marinade (I added the marinade about half way through cooking time though). When it was completely done at the end of the day I used 2 forks to shred it. As it shredded it absorbed all the liquid that was in the crock.

Making this again SOON because we loved it so much!

Have you ever taken a Boston Butt and cooked it in the crockpot w/water, salt and pepper. I cooked mine over night then when I got up I shredded it and took all of the fat out. Then I took some BBQ sauce - it was sweet hickory and put it in with the meat-I added a little water to thin it just a little bit. I made these for a family get together-I had like 6 or 7 butts, they went very fast. Everyone loved it. I like mine w/onion, pickle and of course CHEESE!
Just thought I would put my input in. I am sure you could use the pork roast too.
Good Luck. Oh, btw DH loved it and he hates BBQ!!
