Ingredients:
2 pounds ripe tomatoes
1 med onion, sliced thin
1 Tbs butter
1 bay leaf
1 heaping tablespoon of brown sugar
2 whole cloves garlic
1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsppepper
2 tsp finely chopped fresh basil
1 pt. light cream
1 cup milk
6 large croutons
butter chopped chives
Seed and skin the tomato. Saute the onion in the butter. Add the tomatoes, bay leaf sugar,salt and pepper and basil and cloves.
Simmer stirring occasionally for 25 minutes, remove the bay leaf and cloves. Puree. Add the cream and milk. Serve with a toasted and buttered croutons sprinkle with chopped chives~Janie~
