Baby Shower

I am hostessing a baby shower for my sister in November and am looking for some clever baby-related dishes to serve. We are having a luncheon for about 25 people, some children included. The baby is a girl. I would appreciate any suggestions!

In an old TOH they had a baby shower theme - can't remember what else was in it, but one thing I've been using ever since for baby showers is the baby hand/baby foot cutouts. They're just cutout cookies - using Wilton's little hands and feet cookie cutters. Then you just frost and sprinkle pink and/or blue sprinkles on them. So easy - so cute!

I have seen where they carve a watermellon into a baby buggie, then fill it with fruit. It might of been in one of the quick cooking mag. If I can find it, I will be sure to let you know. Good Luck. :-)

This is pretty basic, but I figured I couldn't go wrong with vanilla wafers.
My baby shower guests loved them.

Buy a pound of pink candy melts, the kind found in a cake decorating shop.
I usually melt the candy with 1 tablespoon of shortening in the microwave.
Once the candy is melted, dip vanilla wafers in the candy. Cool the vanilla wafers on wax paper.
The candy melts will probably be a bright color, buy some white candy melts and mix it with the pink to get a more pastle color.

You can make a pacifier out of candy.

Buy mint life savers. Put one life saver down on piece of wax paper. Take another life saver and dip the bottom in melted white chocolate or melted white candy melts. stand the second life saver on top of the other life saver on its side.

One life saver will be flat on the paper the other on its end. Let this dry. After these are dry take a pink jelly bean, dip the tip in the melted white chocolate mixture. Put this jelly bean on the other flat side of the first life saver. Let dry. You can then run a small pink ribbon thru the second life saver.

I hope this makes sense. It ends up looking like a small pacifier. It's cute. I wish I could send you a picture.

I just went to a couple of baby showers and they had the little baby feet cutouts sprinkled with pink sugar on some and purple on others. They also had little heart cookies. The last baby shower I went to was in a tea room. They served soup first, small tea sandwiches and then small desserts and of course tea.

The other baby shower I went to she had appetizers, chicken parmagian, salads, and two gelatin dishes. One was blue and the other was pink. I'll see if I can find the recipe for the pink one.

I tried to send you a picture these cute little diapers that are made from napkins. They are wrapped around a little cup which will hold candy and a little plastic safety pin is glued up front. If you are interested in this picture I can send it by e mail as an attachment.

There's an AWESOME dish call "Cherry Fluff" it call for sweetened evaporated milk,sweetened cherry pie filling,cool whip, and crushed pineapple (drained) mix it all together and refrig This is sssoooooooooooo good it was in the TOH magazine years ago and I can't seem to find that copy.

i made the mint napkins holders for a shower too, but a little different. take a white napkin (i used the small beverage ones). fold it in the shape of an old fasioned linen diaper and secure it in the front with a safety pin then fill with mints. i folded my square napkin into a triangle, then folded the sides in, and fold the remaining side up and secure with pin. they are always a huge hit!!!
