Buttermilk Glaze
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
3 T. corn syrup
1/2 c. margarine
1/2 t. baking soda
2 t. vanilla
In a small saucepan, combine sugar, buttermilk, corn syrup and margarine. Bring mixture to a rolling boil; cook for 5 minutes. Stir in baking soda and boil 1 minute longer. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour evenly over a warm cake in pan. Allow glaze to be absorbed into cake before cutting.
