Another Rave Review for Star's Peaches and Cream Dessert!

Took this into a potluck party for someone leaving work today. Gave out three copies of the recipe so far! I didn't use the food coloring just because I didn't have it, but it was the talk of the party! Everyone wanted to know what that beautiful peach dessert was! Thanks, Star!

This is my all-time favorite way to used fresh peaches in a dessert. Love this more than peach pie...hmmmm,maybe not quite more than fresh peach homemade ice cream, but certainly very, very close!!

    Pat's Peaches and Cream Dessert
    1st layer: 1 1/4 stick margarine
    1 1/2 cup plain flour
    2 Tbsp sugar
    1/2 cup chopped pecans
2nd layer: 2 8-oz blocks cream cheese at room temp
    1 cup powdered sugar
    2 cups Cool Whip
    3rd layer:
4 or 5 cups sliced fresh peaches
    1 cup granulated sugar
    2 Tbsp corn starch
3 Heaping Tbsp peach jello (dry Powder)
    1 1/2 cups water
    2 Tbsp margarine
    1 tsp lemon juice
2 drops yellow food coloring and 1 drop red food coloring
    1 tsp vanilla
In the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish, melt margarine. Add next 3 ingredients. Mix together and pat evenly in bottom of pan and bake at 350 for 15 to 20 min or until lightly browned. Set aside to cool.

Next. Mix next 3 ingredients in mixing bowl until smooth. Spread evenly over 1st layer.

Next. Blend sugar, cornstarch and dry jello in pan. Add water, lemon juice, and butter. Cook until thickened. Then add vanilla and food colorings. Cool somewhat and then mix with the sliced peaches and place on top of 2nd layer.

Refrigerate several hours prior to serving. The jello mixture will continue to congeal.
Decorate with more whipped cream if desired.

Star~This got such good reviews, and I had bought some peaches this week, so I had to give it a try! It really disappeared quick. I normally don't like jello things; it's a texture thing with me....But, boy, this is so good with so many other things going on! LOL, just gave out another copy of the recipe! Thanks for posting this on!

Cittie~I have no idea when I'll go to OH!! LOL, I'm still on for Saturday for sure! I will leave maybe Monday?? I wasn't expecting this! Barry can't go on this short of notice, and I wasn't planning on spending a whole week there....I still have to to figure it out!!

I must tell you guys, I gave out about 5 copies of this recipe from the potluck at work, plus a copy to all my relatives. Well, at least two of my coworkers made it right away for family BBQ's and they both said it disappeared quick.

I can't tell you how much attention this got on the table...All you heard as people came in was "who brought the peach thing?" Everyone wanted this over the other desserts!

Try it, you'll like it :)

Could you use a large can of drained peaches? Fresh ones are ready here yet.

Bumping to see if you can use frozen or drained canned peaches. The peaches we get here are tasteless any time of year. Thanks.

I think you'd be better off using frozen peaches than canned ones. They generally have more of a "fresh" taste and texture to them than canned ones do.

This recipe sounds great. It's very similar to a fresh peach pie recipe I have that also uses peach Jello.

Can't wait to give it a try myself!

Thank you Star and Joyce. I think the frozen sound better than canned too since they have a little more substance to them and taste more like fresh.
