I generally prepare one or two ears at a time that way - I remove the silks first, though - just wipe them off with a paper towel - then wrap the corn in the paper towel and cook it for 3 to 4 minutes - perfect with one or two. I then place the ears as they are cooked in a casserole with melted butter - season with freshly ground pepper and a little salt - roll the corn in the butter - and you can set the dish with corn back into the oven (warm) for a short time until it's time to serve. I've also used my crock pot for keeping a lot of corn warm and buttered for a larger dinner group.
If I'm preparing a lot of corn, I still boil the corn for just a few minutes, then drain and remove ears to the casserole dish with butter - or the crock pot.
The microwave method makes it really quick and easy to serve when the corn mood strikes - and it really tastes fresh!
Happy 4th!
