    Halloween Menu

Do you have traditional foods that you serve on Halloween? These could be main courses, party snacks, whatever.

We always had chili for Halloween when I was growing up, and I am continuing that tradition with my family. This year we are getting together with friends, who always have hotdogs. So they will cook the hotdogs and I will bring the chili!

I also remember that my mom and I always made cut out cookies for Halloween. DS and I will make some as it gets closer to the day. :-)

Instead of the graveyard cake, I make it on a large cookie :-) I got the idea from BH&G a few years ago and loved it. We aren't big cake eaters so the cookie worked out great.

Buy a tube of refrigerated cookie dough, or use your own homemade dough. Bake it in a 12" round pizza pan. After it's cooled, spread pudding over the top, sprinkle with Oreo crumbs (dirt). Decorate w/ the Pepperidge Farms Milano cookies (tombstones), gummy worms and the ghost peeps. And whatever else you want. Last year DH drew coffins w/ icing and placed gummy worms inside LOL!!

We usually eat something simple on halloween night - chili, sandwiches, a pizza. The we turn all the halloween lights on & the regular lights out, grab a beverage (!) and sit outside on the front step giving out candy. We have halloween lights inside & outside the house (tons of them), pumpkins lit up and scary music. Not to mention the candles we have lit. We have a blast :-)

We meet Samantha Rayne on June 23rd at 8am :-)

Chili is great to have on halloween along with some carrot cake topped with cream cheese frosting (my favorite fall comfort food)! It seems to round out the chili!

We have done differnt things over the years. I was thinking of making chili or soup and serving it in a cleaned out pumkin. I saw that in either BH&G or Good Housekeeping. I thought that would be fun. I've also made the coffin cake but I like the cookie idea. This is a great thread. I want to start traditions with my kids now that they are old enough to participate.

Dip nutter butter cookies in white chocolate and then put on mini chocolate chip eyes and nose to make little ghosts. Very cute!

Cute Idea Rhonda. No kid's here or on the block for that matter. All the kid's have grown up, so Halloween for us is usually Chilie, and AMC's, Corney, Scarey movies! lol

Guess dh and I have a little kid left in us ~ That is why we enjoy Harry Potter sooooo much~Janie~

The past few years we've had chili in the crock pot on Halloween as well. One year we broke tradition and met friends at Burger King. We will probably do chili this year. It's my oldest DS's meal anyway.

It's funny how most of you said you have chili on Halloween.
