OREO TURKEYS
Found these versions on the Southern Living message boards last year, but never made them.
VERSION #1
candy corn
OREO's
red hots
malted milk balls
chocolate frosting
Take Oreo cookie; twist apart. Turn the side that has the white stuff on it back (that's the base of your turkey creation). Put a small dab chocolate frosting in middle of white stuff; "glue" a malted milk ball to base.
Take some more frosting; "glue" the other 1/2 of the Oreo to the back of the malted milk ball (this will be the base for the turkey feathers.)
Using frosting to attach pieces, assemble turkey as follows: stack a 2nd malted milk ball on first, making turkey's head. Then, attach candy corn in a fan pattern on upright Oreo 1/2, creating a turkey's fanned tail.
Last, attach a red hot on front of 2nd (topmost) malted milk ball to resembel turkey "gobbler". (The red hot is actually attached at a 90º angle, with a thin edge touching the face of the milk ball. You'll see how it needs to go on the bird when you make it.)
VERSION #2
Open an Oreo cookies. Using chocolate frosting as glue, place 2 halves at right angles, fililng side inward. Put a malted milk ball between halves for turkey's body. Place candy corn, spoke-like, on inside of upright cookie 1/2 for turkey's tail-feathers. Complete turkey by attaching a cinnamon candy on malted milk ball as turkey's snood.
VERSION # 3
Separate an Oreo cookie. Spread chocolate frosting on cream side of both cookies. Form Rice Krispie treats into an Oreo size ball. Stick Rice Krispie treat ball onto 1/2 cookie. Stick other cookie 1/2 on back end to resemble tail. Decorate with 4 candy corns, pointed side inwards (tail feathers). Put blob of chocolate frosting on head. Attach 1 candy corn for beak.
Helpful or not, I don't know!
ENJOY!!!!
