    Best Ever Brownies

I am desperately seeking a recipe that appeared in one of the first issues of Taste of Home. The recipe was for brownies made with a CAN of hershey's chocolate syrup in the batter and then frosted with an icing that was made with miniature marshmallows. If anyone can help, my kids (and I) would be forever grateful!!!

This is from the 2000 Taste of Home annual recipe book....submitted by Jean Kennedy, Springfield, Ore.

1/2 c. soft butter or margarine
    1 c. sugar
    4 eggs
1 can (16 oz) chocolate syrup
    1 teas. vanilla
    1 c. flour
    1/2 teas. salt
    GLAZE 1 c. sugar
    1/3 c. butter or margarine
    1/3 c. milk
    2/3 c. semisweet chocolate chips
    2/3 c. miniature marshmallows

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in chocolate syrup and vanilla. Add the flour and salt until belnded. Pour into a greased 15 x 10 x 1 baking pan. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean (top of brownies will still appear wet). Cool on wire rack 15-20 min. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine sugar, butter and milk. Bring to a boil; boil until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat; stir in chocolate chips and marshmallows until melted. Pour over the brownies and spread evenly Refrigerate for 5 minutes before cutting. Yiels: about 3 doz.

This is the only brownie recipe I make. It's very moist and easy to whip up. I use a 13x11 pan so it takes a little longer to bake.

I always use the can of cholotate syrup for brownies but I don't know why.  Anyone know if there is a difference or is it just my traditional way of using syrup?

In my opinion the syrup in a plastic bottle IS the same as what you find in the can. Go ahead and use it.

The plastic bottle IS the same syrup as in the cans.  I too hav found it increasingly harder to get the cans.  My really expensive grocery stores seem to be the only ones that carry the cans.
