RE: Grannie Neighborhood - Fourth of July

It is still a great day, here.
Just a salad for lunch, seeing we will be having a picnic supper at the neighbor's.
So, just a Pepsi for snacktime, today. The breeze coming thru the house feels so good. Love the airing out the house is getting.
Hey, PAT, where are you set to go to?
MARYANN, glad DH is doing better and the weather is nicer for him. Hope you get to see some of the fireworks.
GRAMMY, that's the bane of company, lots of sheets and towels to wash. I use folding towels as therapy, that's after being stressed by folding the sheets.
JANE, the fireworks sound really nice on the bluffs. Our neighbors are home, but I did not get to talk to them yet. I want to know where they see fireworks. Nothing like sleeping in.
WANDA, hope you are feeling better.
FRAN, is that pic OK. Sorry, I didn't put a message with it, but I hit send before I thought about it.
CJAY, nothing like burgers and tasty picnic dishes. How's the packing going?
Just sitting here, listening to a radio station that is playing all patriotic, marches, and America songs. Heard God Bless America by Kate Smith and just whistled the piccolo part in the Stars and Stripes March. I am loving every minute of it.

Went to the parade this morning and I love seeing all the dogs people bring. Usually have the patriotic bandanas on.

We had our little picnic on the patio. Everything tasted good. Now everyone is on their own for supper. Of course, it's only me, DH and DD. And she is going to fireworks with friends so will probably have lots of snacks.

DH washed Ds's potters wheel today. I don't think it has ever been cleaned like this since he got it. He won't even recognize it...LOL

Wow, the air sure is changing. Probably be opening the house up soon. It feels so much drier and cooler.

Looks like a slooooooow day in the GN. Certainly is a slow one for me.

ATV there is nothing theraputic that has to do with laundry! It is a good feeling to know that so many people want to come here. When they leave the house is a mess and laundry is a mountain but most of all there are lots of happy memories. By tomorrow I will be wishing for company :)

BlueSpruce at least I don't have to iron sheets or towels. A certain person in the North prob irons hers. If she irons dusters she must iron everything else.

Stylist the showers popped up early here and it has been warm and humid all day. Nothing going on here today.

CJ hope that cool stuff makes it here. The last few days have been steamy one. Today is a little better.

Hope to make it to the porch tonight and set a spell with some grannies

Hello. Our DS#2 is headed for Vegas and our DIL called because she was so bored. She can't be not doing anything for long. So told her to come over and we'd all go to the parade. It's always a very good one, but this year was a real bust.Only a couple of floats, only two tractors and no horses, plus only our local school band. Just a lot of pickups with signs promoting businesses. But DIL did catch some candy for me! LOL

Came home and ate supper. I made a couple of salads and had some cole slaw and cottage cheese and a jello, plus a bowl of Manwich. Guess everyone had plenty. Now she and DS#3 are out taking a ride somewhere.
I have the dishes to wash!

We'll be looking at the fireworks later on.

Grammy, I haven't had that many sheets for years. And yes, I've been known to iron sheets, at least the top that folds over! :)

Maryann, good to hear your DH is doing a little better with the weather.

My windows and doors are always open. No need for special airing out. It has been cool today for the 4th. Only high of 77º.

CJ, sounds like you are getting well prepared for your trip.

Roma, nice to hear from you. I've been hearing from several Rosies lately. Guess I'll have to stop in and say Hi. Just don't know half who are there anymore.

Better clean up the kitchen. Talk to you later...........

I was going to stop here earlier and then got a phone call and never did get back.

You all should have the good news email.

Grammy, What a nice surprise. Not really the way I would plan it either.

Maryann, Glad it has cooled off and DH is doing and feeling better.

Nancy and Mamma, The pictures you sent were a big help. Thanks! I decided to not put the page together in my scrapbook yet.

Cjayh, What a surprise DH made for DS.

Pat, It sounds like your life is as exciting as mine. SIL & I were talking about finding excitement. But maybe we are too mature for excitement. LOL Watching birds is probably as exciting as it gets. Do you know if you are going up to Door county?

Ruth, It sounds like everyone is looking for excitement. It seems like the parade is about as great as the one we have in town. Only difference is ours has been at night and is a lighted one. Haven't heard anything about it this year yet. It is usually in the beginning of Aug.

I got my scrapbook caught up except for the grannie page. After the southern realm has their meeting may have more pictures to add to it.

BIL gave us such a nice gift today. A guy that hunts on his land works for Hillshire.(not sure if that is just a local meet packing place or goes to other states too) Anyway when the meat is almost past the expriation day the plant gets it back. He has been giving BIL ham quite often so he (BIL) is sick of it and sent one over here. The expration date is 7/17 so it is still good. We had ham and cheese sandwiches for supper. Tomorrow we will slice it up and put it in the freezer. That is always so nice to have on hand.

Good evening Grannies from one terribly tired but happy Grannie.DH and I are home alone for the evening.
Some of the children have gone home and others will be staying until Thursday.
Our weekend was special. Family reunion at state park in Brown County Indiana. Sunday all the family attended church with us and then we had a catered meal at Sr. Center. After lunch they had an open house for our 50th Anniversary.
Yesterday I had a Drs appointment and when we came home the kids had gotten all the shrubs out of the beds along our front and a couple that were out in the middle of the yard. They trimmed and cleaned and weeded everything. It looks so different. Now all we have to do is plant the new shrubs and mulch. I haven't been able to work in the yard since we moved here 3 years ago.
So much was dead and needed trimming.
They are also going to help us paint the trim and fix a soffit.
SIL put up two new ceiling fans and a new ceiling fixture in kitchen. Also moved another fixture for over the diningroom table. I feel like I have a new house.
Well must go, Didn't mean to be so gabby. Will try to get back later to chat. BBL

Praise the Lord. So glad to hear that Alby is doing well!!!

Waahoo, the guy called today and said he will come tomorrow afternoon and look at the room that needs the carpet. OH I pray he will do the job. I'm as excited as a cat by a mouse hole. LOL

Mark is mowing the lawn and when he is down we are going to have a fire in our fire pit. It's such a beautiful day here today. Loving every minute of it.
I have a few things to do yet and then I will sit and enjoy the weather some more.

    (((HUGS))) to all.

Hi Grammy. I'll grab a rocker quickly. Four hours with my DIL is tiring. Not that it's bad, but she is so "jumpy". Has to be moving and moving FAST every minute it seems. Can't just sit like a more "mature" person is willing to do! LOL Just tires me out watching and being with her. I was so glad when DS#3 offered to take her for a ride to see some places we'd been talking about! LOL

What wonderful news about Alby. I was showing the pics to DIL and telling her about Alby and how worried as we hadn't heard any more about her. I'm sure Gary is taking exceptional good care of her.

Fran, free food, wherever it comes from is nice to receive.

Suzi, if I get this tired after 4 hours with one person, I can't imagine how tiring a whole day with your huge family must be. How nice for all the help they are giving you and DH.

Mamma, love the saying! LOL. Good luck with the carpet.

Pat, we just had big bowls of ice cream with assorted toppings. Think I'll by-pass your offer tonight. Plus it has cooled off quite a bit and ice cream doesn't sound very tempting to me. It didn't even sound that tasty at 5 p.m. I've worn a long sleeved shirt over my top all day.
