    ISO Asian Slaw recipe

    Hi, I am looking for a recipe for asian slaw.

    I remember in it has:

    In butter, brown a package of ramen noodles and sesame seeds set aside and cool.

    thinly sliced savoy cabbage, green onions, shredded carrots

    the dressing has tarragon vinegar, sugar, and some spices' mix this together in a jar until well mixed.

    Then, just before serving time, mix it all together.

    I am not sure of the quantities.

    You could use butter & oil for the saute, if you like. The unique flavor comes from dark sesame oil in the dressing. For the vinegar, I usually use red wine vinegar, but you could use tarragon if you prefer.

    Asian Slaw

    ½ head chopped cabbage, shredded, e.g. bok choy, Napa, or Savoy
    1/3 cup diced onions, green onions w/ tops add color
    1/4cup sesame seeds,
    1 pkg. ramen noodles, broken up
    1/4cup chopped peanuts, slivered almonds, pecans, walnuts or cashews
    Dressing:
    2 Tbs. vinegar
    3 Tbs. veg. oil
    1 Tbs. dark sesame oil
    1 Tbs. soy sauce
    1/4cup sugar

    Stir fry the sesame seeds and noodles in 1 Tbs. oil. If nuts are not toasted, stir fry them also.

    Mix together the dressing ingredients. Combine with the vegetables.

    Just before serving, stir in the noodles, sesame seeds and nuts.

    Note: I have made this using tender-crisp asparagus in place of the cabbage. I frequently add shredded carrots for color.

    thank you BobbiJo,

    the recipe I had did not have sesame oil in it.

    My kids are allergic to nuts and seeds; so I just omit the sesame seeds.
