    Trader Joes Hits and Misses

I love shopping at Trader Joes and go once a week. I can't believe how fun grocery shopping can be, they always have something new to me and I like trying it all! LOL

Some of my favorite new finds there are:

    Chicken Lime and Chile Burgers:
This is my #1 favorite find and I buy a box every week. They are in the freezer section and are the tastiest burger plus they have only 4 grams of fat and are sooo flavorful. I make a garlic chipoltle mayo and serve on buns with lettuce and tomatoes.

    Cherry Almond Crunch Cereal:
Love this stuff! Breakfast never tasted so good!

    Chicken Chorizo:
Wow wow and wow! What great flavor and so much lower in fat than the stuff you get at the grocery store. I usually buy soyrizo which my hubby actually likes, until I discovered this at TJ's a few weeks ago. We had it for lunch, and I removed the meat from the casings and lightly browned it in some Pam. Then I served it over white rice with some homemade pinto beans, with a sprinkling of chopped cilantro and crumbled cotija cheese! Ecstasy!

It all sounds good. Is the cereal a store brand?

I only get to go to TJ's if I visit family in St. Louis. Bummer, or maybe that is good as I would go broke. LOL

The chciken chorizo sounds good, too. I use it in my chili, but a tasty version with less calories would be wonderful.

    Thai Lime Cashews:

Ooh these were so different and delish! Dangerous to have around the house. LOL

    Spinach and Chive Fettucine:
What a great buy at TJs! I love spinach fettucine and the grocery store now only carries the imported from Italy stuff which is almost $5 bucks a pop. This is only $1.69 for a 12oz pak. I love it with pesto sauce.

    Salsa Especial:
In the refrigerated case, this medium heat salsa fits the bill when I don't have time to make my own. I brought two containers with me when Dh and I went on vacation and we ate them both!

There have been only a few items which I didn't care for.

    Chimichurri Rice:
This was in the freezer section and I should have known better than to buy it. The flavors were very tasty but the rice was mushy.....

    Thai Style Spicy Green Beans:
Frozen section again. After cooking the beans in the microwave which were perfectly delicious they give you a flavor pak of sauce to toss over the beans. Dh and I just didn't like it at all... =(

The closest TJ's is an hour from my house so I don't get there often. Boo hoo! I love their stevia with the red lid. Their vegetarian meatballs are great and so are their vegetarian corn dogs. Two buck Chuck is actually pretty good wine Their large bars of chocolate is also very good and their "Oreo" cookies.

I'm a couple of hours from TJ's but it's probably a good thing -- I absolutely love their Triple Ginger Cookies and would eat those things until I got sick! Now I don't have to worry about that. :o)

When I visit family in D.C. area, this ranks high on the list for special places to go! Last time I discovered some chocolate-covered candied ginger ... bought to share with everyone. Turned out I'm the only one in family who loves ginger so they had me take it home. Hoo Hoooooo! Potent but wonderful, I thought.

consumer report did a report on chocolate chip cookie - just bake - and they won hands down. Their frozen ones. I tried them when I was visiting my DD in NC and they were pretty good.

I have only found one thing from Traders that we did not like. It was the Frozen Chicken to wrap in lettuce leaves--no flavor and bad stuff, we thought.

I love their cocoanut shrimp. They stopped making their Popcorn Shrimp which I loved.

We also like their Vegetable Birds Nests Frozen.

They now have carton of Pad Thai Noodles, Satay Noodes, and Kug Pao Noodles which are all delicious. Serves 2 and each takes only 2-3 minutes in micro.

Our Trders now has all kinds of hamburg at much lower prices than the super market.

Their frozen Haricots Vert are really good and a good price.

All their cheeses are very well priced too.

HAS ANYBODY TRIED ANY OF THEIR OTHER FROZEN MEALS?

I did buy frozen Naan bread yesterday, but have not tried it.

My hit is definitely the coconut macaroons...wow are they good. Very chewy and flavorful. You can't eat just one.

My miss would be the “two buck Chuck” or the Charles Shaw wines. I really didn’t care for them…maybe if they had a white zinfandel…oh well.

My top picks at TJ are the Eggplant Hummus (so yummy on the Naan Bread) and the two buck Chucks...which I use for cooking.
