    Homemade spray starch recipe

This is a great money saver and it does an excellent job.

Dissolve 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon cornstarch (depending on amount of stiffness you want) in a few tablespoons of cold water in a heat proof 2-cup measuring container. Add boiling water to make one cup, stirring constantly. Then add cold water to the 2 cup line. Let cool and use in a spray bottle.
Shake it every time you spray.
You may have to dilute it a little if it is too thick or builds up white flakes.

Discared after a week or so and make a new batch.

Ha! I made a batch of this in a flash after I read your post. I had the ironing board out to iron my tablecloth and used this and I am very pleased. No more clogged spray starch cans and a few dollars in my pocket. Thanks! Oh, I used the 1 tablespoon of corn starch. I like heavy starchiness.

Homestyle I am so glad that you posted this. I use to make this and loved it for spraying the fabric before cutting out quilt peices. Its great for alot of sewing projects. Years ago when dollies was used more it was great for those as well.
I like the spray sizing for many items but sure happy about the reminder of this recipe.

    Thanks heaps,
    Nancy

Blessed are those that can give without remembering and take without forgetting.
