Fall Foliage/ Georgia any one know???

    Hi
I and my honey would like to see the changing of the leaves but, we are in South Florida. I can only take 1 day off plus the weekend and so can not go far. Is there any one here from the Georgia area that knows where we could go to see the leaves? For us it is an 7 hour drive just to get to the border so can not go up to far North.
    Thanks so much
    Have a great day;0)

    Bumping this for meema.

Northwest Georgia is probably too far away for you, but there's a huge wilderness area called Chattahoochee National Forest there. I wonder if you could google it to get some info.

Hope you get to see the changing of the leaves. :)

Thank you for the bump and for the help. I GOOgeled the Forest and we are about 10.50 house from there. So that may be a good one for us. Thanks.

    also check this one:

Georgia's State Parks online Leaf Watch 2007 will be up and running Oct. 1, tracking the pops of orange, red and yellow from the Appalachians southward.

Get updates from park rangers by logging on to www.georgiastateparks.org. You'll also get safety tips for hiking and camping and learn why leaves change color. Links also allow browsers to reserve campsites, cottages and lodge rooms. A Web cam scans the rolling mountainside of Black Rock Mountain State Park.

Leaf watchers say peak in North Georgia is usually late October, but color can be seen as early as September and well into November. And not all the action is in the mountains. Some parks in southern Georgia pull off quite a show in late autumn, especially those with cypress trees and tea-colored swamps.

Once again I want to thank every one. I think we will go up to Gainsville and then through the park. I tried about 15 hotels and ever thing is filled for the weekend of the 19th so will try the next weekend.

If you cannot go far north I'd recommend waiting til the last week in October. Here in middle GA we usually have the best color in November, but in the mountains I would say late October.
