    Fruit leather/fruit wraps

I would like to make some fruit leather for our grandson, but all those recipes in the "search" I just did used plastic wrap in the 4-hour process, which I really don't want to do--not because I think it will melt (because someone assured us that at 200 degrees it would NOT melt), but because I'm afraid of the chemicals being released into the fruit as it bakes. Yuk!!!

Does anyone have a recipe for fruit leather that does NOT involve plastic wrap? We don't have a dehydrator--this will have to be done in the oven.
    Thanks.

Wish I could help, so instead I'll bump this up for someone else who may be able to! Happy Easter!

    I've never made this:

    Fruit Leather 1

    3 c Sliced Apples, Pears, Etc *
    1 pn Salt
    1 pn Ground Cinnamon
    Juice Of 1/2 Lemon

    * Prunes, dried Apricots, or berries

Cook the fruit in enough water to cover, until very soft. Drain. Mix in other ingredients. Puree in food processor fitted with steel blade, or in blender. Spread no more than 1/4" thick on a very well-greased cookie sheet with edges (grease the edges too.) Leave in the oven set on the lowest temp (or just the pilot light in gas ovens) for at least 6 hours or overnight. Cut into 3x4" pieces and roll up in pieces of wax paper. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator or freezer until needed

This is just what I was looking for--thanks soooooooo much! Since posting my question, I did find a recipe in my Stocking Up book, and it looks good, but it makes a HUGE amount and a very LONG time to make.

    Thanks so much again! :o)

I have a dehydrator, but I wonder if you could use parchment paper or foil. For my dehydrator, I just take a can of fruit, drain the juice, and puree the fruit in the blender and spread on the trays. I then thin out the juice with water for the kids to drink.
