I am not sure what your recipe makes, but I often substitute. If it were me, I would cut down the additional salt to maybe 1/2 tsp, but I really doubt if it makes that much difference

The reason for the retype on the question was due to the site telling me it did not send due to an error. That is why the duplicate. I have been using this site for over 3 years and understand how it works.
    Thank you

I use salted butter in every recipe I have.  I have never changed any of the amounts for other salt.  I have not had any problems.  However, to be completely honest, I am not that great of a cook or baker.  But again, I have noticed no difference.

    Re: UNSALTE BUTTER QUESTION ???

I use salted butter alot but have made the switch to unsalted butter for baking especially for pie crust.  I copied & pasted the article below for you.

    From America's Test Kitchen:

We find that salt often masks the sweet creaminess associated with butter. In the test kitchen, we always develop recipes with unsalted butter. We think it tastes better.

If you want to use salted butter in savory recipes that call for unsalted, you will need to reduce the total amount of salt in the recipe. A stick of salted butter contains the equivalent of 1/3 to 1/2 teaspoon of table salt, so adjust recipes accordingly.

In baking, we strongly recommend using unsalted butter. Given its sodium content, salted butter will make many recipes inedible. For instance, our favorite butter frosting calls for just a pinch of salt and our sugar cookies need only 1/4 teaspoon salt. Each recipe calls for two stick of butter, so if you were to use salted butter (rather than unsalted), each would contain about 3/4 teaspoon of salt--an amount easily detected.

It is not doing the things we like to do, but liking the things we have to do that makes life blessed!

Thanks for the info sstetzel.  I might start paying attention to what I am planning on making before I go shopping.  If it specifies unsalted I'll get that instead

Isn't one cup of butter, two sticks? I would leave the salt out totally.

I NEVER buy salted butter. If salt is needed, it can always be added.

What are you making? Please let us know how it turns out.

And I NEVER in my life have bought unsalted butter!  I use salted butter in everything.  A friend of mine bought unsalted, and it was not fresh, because not that many people buy it here.

I think it is all a matter of personal taste.

    Re: UNSALTE BUTTER QUESTION ???

I use UNsalted butter in everything that way I can control the amount of salt that is in my baking. In fact when butter is on sale I stock up on UNsalted and keep it in my freezer. But since I am a baker it does not last long! And you cannot really taste the difference.
