Hi Everyone:
I'm always collecting recipes off the board so thought I would share this one with you. I found it on the internet at CDKitchen.com. I made it for Christmas Dinner and everyone enjoyed it.
Baked Brussels Sprouts Au Gratin
Serves 6
1 qt. brussels sprouts
2 tbsp butter
1/2 cup green onions, chopped
1 tbsp flour
1/2 slice bacon
1 1/2 tsp garlic, chopped
1 1/2 tsp parsley, chopped
1 cup water, reserved from cooking
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated ( I used more)
2 1/2 tbsp bread crumbs
Preheat oven to 325'. Wash and "X" bottom of the sprouts. Place in boiling water, enough to cover. Boil and simmer 10 minutes or until tender. Drain and reserve 1 cup of the hot liquid. Melt the butter in a small skillet. Add the green onions and saute for 3 minutes. Stir in the flour and cook until flour is dissolved, 3 minutes. Add the bacon, garlic and parsley. Cook 3 minutes more. Pour in the reserved liquid. Add salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until thickened to the consistency of heavy cream. Remove the bacon from the sauce. Place the sprouts base down in a buttered casserole. Pour sauce over. Top with grated cheese and then breadcrumbs. Bake 30 minutes or until top is browned.
Note; Sorry but I don't know how to eliminate the double spacing in the ingredients.
