Good New year day to all.

I hope everyone is still nice and safe.

The laundromat wasn't to bad, 1 week of laundry only took 2 hours! but it cost $32!! We could have done better if we had known what to put where

We are starting a new tradition with dinner today we are having corned beef, cabbage, boiled potatoes, and glazed carrots. Instead of salt pork, mustard greens and black eyed peas.

    Amy, enjoy your dinner.

Got up around 9am it was so nice to sleep in. Tomorrow it's back to routine and today I'll take the tree down.

Not sure what's for dinner but I wish I had planned something nice.

    Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning everyone and Happy New Year

We had a lovely evening with my brother and sister in law- it was their first NYE together as married folks. I woke up with a migraine - now gone thank goodness and drugs - I think maybe the shrimp triggered it. To bad cuz I really like shrimp and now will have to give it up. DH had to be at work for 8 am and won't be home until 10:30 pm. Seems he has employees who don't want to work today ... so he has to. DS went to a party last night - a black tie event for teens !! He stayed the night and I am waiting for him to call to go pick him up. I can't wait to hear how his evening went. LOL

Nancy - We are very grateful to have Grandma still with us and in really good shape too. She has issues with caratid(sp) arteries that can't be fixed so mentally she wanders sometimes. She had a mission to crochet afghans for all the women in the family and this past year completed - with some help - her last blanket for her great great grand daughter -my sons' daughter. She is amazing.

I am catching up on laundry and plan on putting together a pot of broccoli cheese soup. We have ham salad and leftover turkey so I hate to cook more meals. Soup sounds good and with the cold temps -will hit the spot. We got about 3 inches of snow on the ground and more in the forecast along with temps in the 20's. YUCK

    Have a good day everyone.

    Happy New Year!!

Julie Happy Birthday to your Grandmother. Praying still for your MIL. I hope they can find out quickly what is wrong. Hope DS had a good time last night.

Nancy My oldest went last night and stayed with Grandma. But youngest DS did stay up. He is my little night owl.

Amy Your new tradition sounds yummy to me. WOW $32!!

Last night we stayed in. I watched the movie The Christmas Shoes and balled! For supper tonight I am cooking cabbage rolls, black eye peas, cornbread, and spinach balls.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

    Happy New Year Everyone!

I hope everyone has a wonderful year! I plan on MAKING it a good year!

We also stayed in last night, started watching season 3 of LOST! It is so much better watching it that way!

The lobster tails were really good. I got DH to butterfly them and then I basted them with butter that had garlic, lemon and a few shots of Frank's Red hot and they were sprinkled with Old Bay seasoning. A very tasty Christmas gift indeed! And that was a small part of his gift........he is spoiled.

DD went to a pirate party last night, I should be hearing from her just after lunch. I bet she had a good time!

Making a Rib roast today and getting DH ready for his trip, he leaves tomorrow for up to a week so  there is a bit to do, but not to much.

And I want his to take me for a drive out in the country to take some pictures of the trees with all the snow, it is very pretty out there.

And that is it for my first day of 2008!

I hope everyone has a great day!

It has been a pleasure getting to know all of you!!!!!! Almost 2 years now, WOW! Time flies.

Happy New Year friends!!  I hope that your year is filled with wonderful friends and fun!

DH had to work early this morning, so he went to bed around 10.  The boys and I stayed up a little- but I was the only one to see midnight.  The neighbors had a ball letting off a ton of fireworks, and someone down the block had an obnoxiously loud siren/horn- but it didn't last long.  I ended up trying a chicken tetrazzini recipe for dinner that was just okay- not quite what I had hoped for.

Tonight I think we are doing some munchie foods- I haven't figured out what the main course is going to be yet.  I have some little smokies, and some more veggie dip, and some chips and salsa.  I'm kind of thinking of making a little soft taco "bar" and putting out fixings for either a soft taco or nachos.  Or both, if the boys want!

The boys and I are just hanging out today.  I have some laundry to get to, and we sat and watched the parade this morning.  Now they are playing games and just relaxing.  We will probably break out some board games and puzzles later.  And of course, watch some football!

I'll talk to you all later.  Have a fantastic day!

    Blessings, Ellie

Re: Mom2Mom Recipe Chat! December 31st thru January 6th. **Happy New Year** Everyone Welcome!

Happy New Year Friends! We have been gone for the past 13 days to San Diego--enjoyed the sun and of course being with our daughter!!  Never get too much of that...She flew in to be with us.

Just finished watching the Rose Parade..I'm a native of Pasadena-- so that is a must to watch at our house.  Also DH and I graduated from USC so we will be watching that football game for sure..

We went out for an early dinner last night with friends, came home and watched to New Year arrive from New York--was in bed by 10 pm...I'm a real party animal....Yeah right!!

Our plans for today are hanging around the house and taking it easy..Perhaps we will grill some steaks for dinner tonight...We'll see.

Giving some thought as to my new years resolutions...Right now my plans are to be more sensitive/caring to those that need some help. Perhaps writing notes to people that have been a part of my life that are getting older and just remembering them.  I'm sure there are others that will come to mind later--but that is my trend now..

Have a great day friends--I'll talk with you all later.~`Sassy

    Happy New Year Dear Friends!!!!

I haven't been on as much as I would like.

I sure have missed all of you.

Just had a quiet night last night. DH brought home some shrimp. I made baked salmon, wild rice and greenbeans to go with it.

As for resolutions, I am trying to spend more one on one time with the boys.Between that,homeschooling,cooking,cleaning...you all know how the time goes.

So with that said, I won't be on every day, but will try and keep up a few times a week.

I pray you all will have a very blessed 2008.

    Hey Michelle!

Yummy on the Spinach balls! A nice little chunk of mozzarella inside would be good to!

He is hoping to be back by Sunday but there is no telling when he will be forsure. A big job is starting up plus he has a rig in B.C. that me may have to go to. But he was told to take 2 days when he does get home. I know him, he will take one,............. but thats better then none.

I see the commercials for LOST, starts on the 31st.  I am looking forward to it! Looks like a very interesting season.

Well I better go and make that Baklava so I will have the oven free in time.

And I must say, it is great seeing everyone!!!!!! Sassy, Leat, Cyndi!

Now we need Patty, Mary, Charlene, just for starters!

    Okay, back to the kitchen.

Julie You are very welcome. Hope yall like them.

Redawna How do you make your Bakalava?

My FIL came in a while ago and asked where his plate was. I hadn't even really started yet. So I jumped up and put the cabbage rolls in the oven. He came in the kitchen and told me I said I would have it ready at Dinner. I said I did, but Dinner is at 6 or 7. He looked at me and said Girl, you live in the country, Dinner is at 12 and supper is at 6. Oops.
